World Cup 2014
« on: May 28, 2014, 05:28:29 PM »
Hi all,

I have just completed a 4th Grade World Cup lesson as we had a few free lessons. Attached is an inital presentation of the World Cup (with You tube links in the PP) that is mainly aimed at the countries in Korea's group, a question sheet to go with it and I have used the template of a World Cup Bomb Game and put questions in relation to 4th Grade lessons.

The questions and PP presentation could definitely be used for older children (as the PP was a bit too complicated without translation) and the Bomb Game can easily be adapted to fit your chosen grade.

Enjoy.

Nice choice of information in the ppt and a fun game ppt too. I think my male students will really like it. I'm not so sure about the girls. Assuming you teach co-ed, were there any strategies you used to make it more appealing for them?

Seems like a really good lesson.

Yeah there was a problem with the girls but they enjoyed designing the mascot. Also (as discussed with my co-teacher) a good way to keep them happy is to allow them to be in an all girls group for the bomb game and go first...  simple changes seem to keep them happy.

Here's a football bomb game template just in time for the World Cup!

It's fairly straightforward:

- Click on a shirt to go through to a question. If it's correct, click on the ball to go through to a short video clip of a goal scoring opportunity. If their team scores, they get 1 point, otherwise they don't. If they get a red card, they lose all their points. And they lose 2 points for a yellow card.

-Click on the X to return to the main screen if they get a question wrong

- Click on the stadium to go back to the main screen after a clip

-Click on the ball on the penalty screen to choose your penalty taker

-Click on the World Cup for a victory sequence for the winners. (I get the winning team to come to the front to 'present' the trophy.)

Because of the clips, commentary and title sequence, the file size is far too large (167MB) to send via Facebook or Waygook, so click on the link below and expect a long download time!

Hope you and your kids enjoy it!
