Choose your own Adventure Time!
« on: June 17, 2014, 03:01:44 PM »
This is a choose your own adventure activity. Naturally the Adventure Time theme fits well. The slides progress in order unless you come to a slide with options, a blue star in the right corner or a "game over" slide in which case click on objects within the slide to continue the story-line. The flower in the explanation sequence is the trigger for the explosion. I would say go through the powerpoint a few time to make sure you are familiar with the story, and make sure the fonts and such match. The font and sound clips are not needed but make the powerpoint more enjoyable for the students.
Hope you enjoy.

Sorry for such a basic question.

Are the clips not included in the PPT? Or is it a case of the clips only needing to be in the same folder as the PPT to work automatically, right?

Love Adventure time.  Downloading the PPT now to look at. That's certainly a fat file.

Thanks for taking the time to construct this.

Wow this is amazing! I was dying to know what came next! And perfect for my after school class we've just done 2 episodes of adventure time and they love it.

I can't seem to get the sound going, I've made a folder and put all the files in there together, is there something else I need to do?

I think you've done it right but you could re-insert the music clips directly into the powerpoint. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it (there are still visuals for every sound effect) so everything will still make sense to the students.

Hi Kyle,

I'm going to try to use this with my middle school kids. How long did it take for you to complete the game with the students? I'm trying to figure out if I need a warm-up first before starting the game. It looks great by the way. There aren't many choose your own adventure games out there. Students love them, and I wish there were more.

Has anyone figured out where the, "While walking..." slide is suppose to go? I can either go back to the beginning, or it just follows into "Back at home..."

That is just one of the examples of what could happen, essentially you should click on the "adventure time logo" to actually start the story.
The order of events in the explanation portion are 1) Finn and Jake are trying to decide what to do. 2)"students" vote for a an outcome and explosion is chosen 3) click the flower on screen to trigger the explosion. 4) try again by clicking "try again" then "students" redo answers 5) click "try not to die this time" have real students select walk or go home, click on one of the options, which leads to either them walking or a their home at which point 6) click the adventure time logo to launch the actual adventure time story lesson past the example.
