Individual or partner writing game. Print and cut out the squares in slide one. Hang them around the room. I make mine semi-hidden which ups the excitement level for the kids. Give each student or partner set a half sheet of slide 2. They'll walk around the room looking for the pictures hanging then find the corresponding sentence on their paper. Once they make a match they'll write that picture's number next to the sentence. First team to finish all wins.

I'll have slide 3 up on the screen while they play for reference for the lower level students. Answers on slide 4. Enjoy!

I love this idea, so I made a powerpoint with directions (my students are low-level, I need visuals to explain complex games) and sheets that I laminated for them to mark on. They are attached. Thanks, tlang, for the idea.

Most students already know kitchen, bedroom, etc. so I added "basement" and "play room."

I also played a game called "Where's the Monster," where each pair of students received a printed house in a plastic sleeve, and a marker. They drew a triangle for a monster, and a circle for a boy, in any two rooms in the house. Then, they went up against another team and asked, as the monster "Where are you?" The other team's "boy" answered with the room he was in. If the monster and boy were in the same room, the team with that monster got a point. If they were in different rooms, the team with the boy got a point. Then, the other team's monster had a turn. Unfortunately, I lost my ppt for the house print-out (really simple--just a house), but here is the word bank that I put onscreen during the game.

Does anyone have an idea for a motivation song/video that isn't the Busy Beavers House song? The sound quality on that video doesn't work well with the sound in my classroom so it's hard to hear the singers over the guitar sound.

Monster vs Students

This game is for 1st period. I focused on two key expressions: 'Where are you?' / 'I'm in the____.'

Print out the last slide and cut the pieces out. I made this game for 5 teams. I put double sided tape on the back of the pieces. I will have one player from each group come up and place their game pieces in the room.

If the monster is in the same room, then minus 1 point.

Sheet for this chapter made by my coteacher. I think she just adapted it from the teacher's CD, but it's still useful.

Contains Vocab, key sentences, fill in the blanks for Look and Listen, circle the word for Look and Say.

The 2nd page is the lyrics to the Busy Beavers house song, which I typed out.

also unless i missed it, there isn't a culture section for this chapter, so i made this very brief PPT about houses around the world. gonna use as an intro for the last period. maybe someone can add to it? i don't really have the time unfortunately.

I added to Laverne's Doraemon PPT. I really loved it as its own,but I tweaked it to match Period 3 of Where are you? It follows the same sequence the textbook has with the addition of a pass the ball game. The kids love it. The Pass the Ball is already set to transition on its own so just listen to the song while you play. Note: Make sure you to tell your students not to throw the ball. Consequence being not playing games anymore. Also, I show the students the order to pass the ball before they play. I make them practice once before we play.

For the read play, my coteacher and I used the book's game ,but for my other co teacher who had already played it, I tweaked the Dorameon bomb game. It was left for me by my former co teacher but I changed it from lesson 6 to lesson 7 period 3. Note: The alphabet screen won't omit the letters you have chosen so write the alphabet on the board and cross out the ones that are used. I usually number my students groups then the student within the groups to make sure every gets a chance.

First contribution - love waygook.

Here's a brilliant Blackout game that I got from a different thread. Don't know who the creator is but it's sooo good.. thank you!

I'll play at the end of the chapter for fun. The students watch intently in groups then write the room or sentence on their whiteboard correctly for a point.

This game was awesome. Best game I've played all year with my students. Kudos to whoever made it.

Some bomb games (original templates from templates section)

And cards for the spy game. (2-3 copies of each card depending on class size. Students have to use the dialogue to find their match/es. If a student has a spy card, they can lie. If a student matches with a "spy" the spy gets 1 point, other student 0. If a spy matches with a spy they both get 0.)
