Global "Hello" song for English Culture Camp
« on: July 31, 2014, 02:10:00 PM »
Hello there,

Here's a song I have my 4th - 6th sing this song as a warmer for camp.

I sang the first part with my students, stopping after ea. greeting to have the kids repeat the greeting and guess where people say it. Then I pointed to the map and showed them the country where they say it.

I hope you enjoy the song - Correct me if I'm wrong, but here are the greetings and what language they're in:

Salaam - Persian
Shalom - Hebrew
Guten Tag - German
Buenos Dias - Spanish
Ko nichi wa - Japanese
Namaste - India
Ni Hao - Mandarin
Layho - Cantonese
Bonjour- French
Aloha - Hawaii

Buon Giorno - Italian
O Ku Ale - Yoruba (spoken in Niger-Congo, West Africa)
Salaam Aleikum - Arabic
Hola - Spanish
Fofo - Zarma (spoken in Niger and West Africa)
Yo Maymak - Yolngu Matha (Aboriginal Australian)
Ciao - Italian
Morembe - Acholi (Uganda, Sudan)
Tashidelek - Tibetan
