I used this for an after school grade one class. It's a small class, with 9 students. I teach alone, so expected there would be comprehension problems, but we managed just fine.

Replaced the title text with 지하 감옥 탐구 (a literal translation of dungeon explore); one kid realised what it was and explained to the class.

Each student had a print-out of the empty map as well as a small marker to help keep track of where we are at any given moment. I pinned a copy of my own on the wall, which they filled in after me.

Students found one key in 30 minutes. We spent a lot of time on drilling the vocabulary - also on me checking their progress. Next period, we should take less time to find the other keys.

A great activity for sure, thank you!

One Piece ocean maze game (Re: Dungeon maze game)
« Reply #22 on: May 16, 2016, 01:22:46 AM »
I love your work, OP!  I am insane, too.  So... I made a One Piece-inspired version of this game.  There are notes on the first slide that detail the changes.  In sum: water / island  maps, more unscramble slides, One Piece enemies / items, two dead ends.  Check the screenshots.

Although I don't think it has glaring errors, this is not perfect.  The maze is basically the same as the original dungeon, so it probably can't be used on the same class.  There are a few awkward layouts, some of the maps are quite ugly, and actually I'm not sure if the plot ("broken log pose / find a new one in four pieces") is at all sensible in the One Piece universe.  Any feedback would be appreciated, as I haven't played this with my kids yet.

As a bonus, here is also a spiffed-up version of mnljkb's recent Harry Potter remake (http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,85858.msg615085.html#msg615085) (thanks, mnljkb!).  Same map.

In the Dungeon Maze game, what do the four locks mean; Earth, Fire, Ice, Wind.

Nothing happens when they are clicked

Nothing is meant to. If I remember correctly, they should just disappear when you click on them, to indicate that they've been collected.

Keep a record on the board of which ones you've got and when you have all four get the students to guide you back towards the win screen room.

PROPS to "moc-moc-a-moc!" for this game!

I used it today, fit exactly within one 40-minute period for my lower-level Elem G5 class.

Also, I added a few ZELDA sound effects, for walking through each door, getting keys, fighting monsters, etc.

I don't know the proper etiquette for posting a revision of someone else's file, but here it is!

Thanks again to the OP:  moc-moc-a-moc!

That's great, thanks for improving it. I always neglect audio when I'm making things in Powerpoint.

I just uploaded a sort of follow up game to this, set in a big Egyptian pyramid. Same basic idea, just slightly tidier execution.
