UPDATE Dec. 23/14 It's been a while but I had to quickly make up another set (Set 11) to fill up some time.  This one may be a bit easier than the others, as it is a rush job. I did borrow the 'bulgogi' slide from another user, but I forget who. Thank you!

Required modifications:
In Set 2, you must modify Slide 6
In Set 11, you must change Slide 11 ('kimbap') with another picture of a person named Kim.

UPDATE Oct. 29/14 One more set added below (Set 10). Please let me know if you like the white box that I added that covers up the content of the slide to hide the pictures/word from students when you are setting up the powerpoint.

UPDATE Oct. 28/14 Two more sets added below (Set 8, Set 9). Please let me know if you like the white box that I added that covers up the content of the slide to hide the pictures/word from students when you are setting up the powerpoint.

UPDATE Oct. 23/14 - I have added another set (Set 7) below. I added a white box that covers each slide which disappears in the presentation so that students cannot see the word or pictures when you are setting up the powerpoint.

I love dingbats!  My co-teachers are so going to steal these from me (if I let them)!

Thanks.

On File 2, you must modify slide 6.

I wondered what the reason was going to be.

Clever :)

Thanks :-). I do enjoy making these, and they seem to be the only things that engage all my students, regardless of level.

Thanks for posting more! I had one of them that I used in several different classes and they're a great compound word exercises.

BTW, you might notice that it could be easy for your attentive students to notice the word for the first few in the slide preview as soon as you open it. Easy way to avoid that is to insert a white jpg on top of the word that disappears on the click.

I am glad people are finding these useful in class. They're a good way to get students thinking in English mode, and my students actually like them.

Oh, good idea. Maybe I could make a white box to cover up the whole slide, so they can't even see the pictures. I will try and post another set today.

Thanks much! I edit some out due to the level of my students. I am using three slides from your presentations in my open class today.  :police:

Out of curiosity, do you have low level students or high level? I have low level students and I usually help them out with clues or talking them through it.

Thanks for these! In  one particular class it is always the boys answering and with the sprinkled in k-pop puzzles the girls started getting involved and excited so it was great to finally see them get with the program. They even started singing the 'do you want to build a snowman' part from Frozen when that slide came up. Can't wait to see more of these, they are life savers.

Also: The ramyeon one was the best. Even my highest kids were stumped!
I put it on their facebook wall and there was like a 20 comment thread about how to solve it, including high school students.
It secretly gave me pleasure that they were getting so annoyed that they couldn't solve it!

Eventually I caved and gave them a hint, but it still took 3 kids two days to figure it out.

I work at an all girl school so including kpop is a must.

Ah, you must have smart students! My students are all low level so I usually give them clues or talk them through it. I am glad these work for both high and low.

Yes, I only used them in my afterschool classes. I'm lucky to have quite brilliant kids this term in that class so I wanted them to figure it out on their own.
But, when they struggled I gave them clues.

I took 24 of my favorite from all the ppt's and printed them on paper. It was a fun 20 minute activity.

I have added a new set. It is below and also in the OP. In this file I covered each slide with a white box that disappears when you show the presentation (a variant of slycordinator's suggestion). That way, students cannot see the word or the pictures when you are getting the powerpoint ready.

Let me know if it is better with the white box or without.

Two more sets added below (Set 8, Set 9) and also in the OP. Please let me know if you like the white box that I added that covers up the content of the slide to hide the pictures/word from students when you are setting up the powerpoint.

Enjoy!

White box is good. Some of my students are so competitive.
