Good Halloween Movies for MS students
« on: October 19, 2014, 04:02:18 PM »
I was thinking of suggesting having a simple "Halloween Day" at my hagwon, no costumes or elaborate decorations, just candy & a movie to give the students a break (and I'll be honest, myself too).

I know some good Halloween movies for elementary students, and HS students can pretty much watch anything, but this will be my first Halloween with MS students.

A 90 minute running time would be ideal, and embedded Korean subtitles are a must as well (can only play off of a USB stick, awkward setup).

Any suggestions for activities to compliment the movie apart from dictation or a word search would be welcome as well. I'm looking for things that require a minimum amount of effort here, on both my part and the students part. I already spend enough hours each week of my own time planning lessons, etc. so I'm not looking to sacrifice much more.

Thanks!

1. Make Masks
2. Write a scary story
3. Have them Design a Dia De los Muertos Skull
4. You create a choose your own adventure game and have them see if they can survive a scary movie.

Just thoughts.

I think Woman In Black is a 12a. It's a fairly new horror film that isn't gory, more creepy and tense. Plus it's got a Harry Potter in it too!

Never mind, all potentially fun Halloween activities have been cancelled because "parents might not like it"

I'm making this jack o'lantern with my students! We are learning about Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, so we are making them with cardboard box material.

And watching the Nightmare Before Christmas!

We probably won't watch all of it, but...
