« on: April 12, 2011, 09:46:09 am »
my afterschool class was interested in how americans celebrate birthdays.  I did this lesson and explained what people did and than in small groups i had the students talk and come up with their perfect birthday party.  It got them asking a lot of questions about birthdays and traditions as well!

For one day during my summer camp, I hosted an actual birthday party, western style.

My class was only two hours long, so it was easy to do.

First the students made party hats that they had to wear the whole class.  We played pin the tail on the donkey and pass the package game, and the students won prizes. At the end of the class there was a pinata for them to break and collect candy.

For the last half an hour, I showed them a video of Mr. Bean's birthday party.

It was good fun!
Be the change you want to see in the world.
