Sleeping Elephants
Dawson Powell - May 2015
*Audio file is now embedded*

This is the  Sleeping Elephants game made super-easy. A single round of the game is on a single slide, making it much easier to make. There are several other features, listed below. Please read the slide notes on the first slide if you have questions.

Features
  • Slide templates for teams with three, four, five, or six students
  • Optional timers (20, 30, 45, or 60 seconds)
  • Content placeholders that can be either text, pictures, or video
  • Pictures and sound effects help give the students directions
  • Widescreen and Standard screen size versions
I tested this quite thoroughly, but let me know if you encounter any problems.
Hope you find this useful for your classes!

This is a great template, thanks for making it. Really will save a lot of effort making sleeping elephant games.

Stellar stuff.  Kudos.
The wide screen wouldn't work on mine, but I believe the Full Screen version does.  That makes me worry a bit as I work 3 different schools and if they're all different set ups, it's a pain, but either way, it looks pretty simple to use.
Well done!

Nice intro slide, but the addition of pics means that entering a new text or pic slide requires you to heavily edit the timers for each slide.  In other words, you are now required to do a lot more editing than you would in the original sleeping elephants game.

For easy edits, I would add an additional example slide featuring text slides only (no pics).

Don't copy the first slide, you don't need to. Click the arrow under "New Slide." You will see that there are templates for different timers and team sizes. Pick the one you want. This will give you a blank slide that you can easily add text or pictures into.

Please read the slide notes underneath the first slide. They explain everything about the game.

The new slide option really did solve my editing issues.  Thanks.

Thank you! This is great. It's the best Sleeping Elephants template I've used. The sound/music doesn't work for me though. Any advice? I downloaded it again just to make sure, but still no sound.

Which version of Windows and PowerPoint are you using? That might help me figure out the problem.

It works in 2007 for me, but I am using Windows 8 and 7. Sometimes older versions of Windows won't play the sounds. You can make the game in PPT 2007, but if you want the sounds try playing it in PPT Viewer 2010.

I know it's been awhile but how do you delete the embedded sound file?

My students get sleepy playing this game so don't want to encourage them with the music, haha.

I see the icon but can't delete it... thank you :)

You'll need to go to the View tab, then click Slide Master. You can delete it from the Master View.
