Pokemon Card Game
« on: November 26, 2014, 03:16:27 PM »
I made a bunch of Pokemon cards that can be useful for teaching comparatives.

5 categories - age, speed, strength, height, weight

There are many games you can play with these cards.  I printed, cut and laminated them.  6 card sheets per group of 4.  This takes a while to do but I'm sure there are other uses you can make for these.  Hope they are helpful to someone.

Game IDEA:
Players do Rock, Paper, Scissors - winner chooses a sentence - i.e. I'm stronger than you.  All players choose a card from the center and whoever has the highest Strength value wins and collects the others' cards.  Students count their cards when all have been played and the one with the most cards wins.

Note:
I'm not a Pokemon fan but I think I included all of the notable ones.  If I missed any vital characters, let me know in this thread.  I matched up the weights and heights to their actual representation on the original cards.

This is an interesting way to play war.

Why did you put the cards in PPT file? and the files are all separate.
They are a little too stretched and small for me, so I want to tinker with it and make everything a little bigger.....

If I end up using this, I'll create a PDF template for easy access to DL and print off.
I'll credit you and post here.

Thanks for the idea! This will be great in my camp as a filler game.
So you want to be real artists. It's okay. I can sell that angle. But you two have to go all the way. One of you has to lose an ear!

I really liked this idea, and mentioned earlier I wanted to share what I did with your templates.

First, I cut out all the cards and put them into publisher so that it's easier to print and cut.
Second, I changed the design a little so that things were consistent. I made the font a little bigger and changed the color around the boxes. (see attached pic)

I put everything in one PDF file for people to print and cut.
Paste the cards on harder  paper or cardboard (laminate if you have the sheets)

It was a fun idea. The boys really got into it. I played it like a war-style game where they made a statement ex:
Player A to Player B:"My pokemon is faster than yours..." and the both players flipped to see if player A was right. If he was, he kept the card. If he was wrong, player B took the card.

Thanks again for the templates!
