Hello,
We all appreciate your zeal to upload materials and to contribute to the site.  However, please avoid posting the same powerpoints, videos, and worksheets multiple times.  Dozens of posts in the past week have said "I don't know if this has been posted yet but . . .," but really you need to read the entire thread to check if in fact it has.  And chances are if you got materials from this site, the materials are . . . um, already on the site. 

Some chapters for elementary school textbooks are 7 or 8 or more pages long, and that's a good thing.  Only a few years ago the only resources we had for those books were the CD-ROMs and our own ingenuity.  There are a lot of resources to look through, but please don't add to it by reposting old stuff.  If you'd like to endorse or bump an older lesson, use the "quote" button found on the post and let us know how it went.

This is a good point. If you only post your materials once, it is easier for users to locate the original document rather than being stuck in an endless backtrack. Thank you! :)

Does that include tinkering with PPTs and reposting them later?

Tinkering is fine.  If you think it's changed significantly (fixed broken links, better pics/animated gifs, corrected grammar/spelling), then repost it.  But please don't repost if you just changed the font, switched a few pictures, or fixed a few misspelled words.  Use your judgement.

It depends on what you want to do. Either start a new thread/topic, or reply to a previous one, or quote someone else's post and reply to that.

Wait a sec. You just DID post. Clearly you figured it out... Do you mean upload materials? Click "attachments and other options" when writing your message.

Does the search bar on this site use google to run its queries? If not, could that be added to the site? And could I suggest making the search bar more prominent on the homepage; That might help reduce a bulk of needless repeat posts...

The search bar doesn't use google. I've always just done _______ site:waygook.org on google and found everything I've ever needed. I think people just need to use common sense and search with google. Waygook's search seems really messed up, I've never had it work for me. The google thing works well because you can search anything like "great lesson site:waygook.org" and you'll find every time someone has ever said something along the lines of "what a great lesson, this really worked for me" which can be nice if you're just looking for a fun lesson that could be about anything.

Right. I'm just thinking if they could put a (more effective) google-powered search bar on the homepage and make it more prominent, then users would use it more, and the entire site could lose a lot of its excess.

I've been warned for repeat posts before, but I did so because I feel like I make quality material that might be hard to find for an average user since (I'm guessing) most don't use the search function very often.
