All right folks, here is the newest addition to the K-Pop Slam fam.
I was getting tired of looking for songs with enough memorable English to make a regular Slam game, so this is a new twist on the game.

Students listen to the song and it cuts off right before the English lyrics. The students have to guess those English lyrics.

Each slide includes the number of English words and the first letter of each word. Click on the picture to play the music.

I divide my students into 3 teams and each team gets 30 seconds (I gave my students an additional 10 seconds) before the other teams are allowed to guess.

There are bonuses. Three bonuses give the students a 50/50 chance to win or lose 50 points. And three bonuses are questions that the students must answer. If they get it correct they get plus points, if they're wrong they get minus points.

There has been a glitch when using the new PPT version. The game sometimes resets after the bonus rounds. So I recommend marking which ones have been done on a separate paper as you play. It's a nuisance... but I can't figure out how to fix it.

Also excuse the garish color scheme... my co-teacher recommended it after insisting my original version was too boring.

Attached is the game, the video files, music files and answer sheet.

Credits go to DJMasa for the intro song and Wintermute (would've never learned how to make these games if it wasn't for his original template).

Happy playing!

THE LINK TO THE NEW VERSIONS ARE POSTED DOWN BELOW.

with the 50/50 chance, what exactly needs to be done? I was just looking through it, and it looks as though nothing really happens. If I click the up it is +50, and down is -50, what did you do if they had that bonus? Maybe play rock paper scissors or something?

The team that gets that bonus rounds has to choose "Up" or "Down".  One will be +50 points and the other will be -50 points. It's just a quick game of chance. (The song that plays in the background sings "위 아래" which means up and down. So it's just a play off of that.)

THank you so much whitleybug! It looks like a good fun twist on the standard kpop games. I know my kids will really enjoy it. Thanks for the hard work

So, can your kids actually get the answers? This seems super hard to me.

My high schoolers got every single answer in all 12 classes that I played it in.  Just make sure you show the hint after playing the song a couple of times.  Middle schoolers may not do as well since a lot of the songs are older. But high schoolers should have no problem.

My students thoroughly enjoyed playing this game! Thank you sooo much! I've been inspired to try and create my own, but I don't know how to get started would you mind giving summary of what you did and where I can find these videos?

Sorry, just saw this now~ I've actually made a second version plus a deluxe version (combination of the 2 since I have a new school). I'd be happy to upload them if people are interested.

As for making your own, I use YTD Video Downloader to download the Youtube videos to my computer and Freemake Video Converter to cut the videos down to size and to make the sound clips.
You are more than welcome to use my template as making a new one is pretty time consuming. Should you make your own, pm me and I will send you the deluxe version ppt since it is an upgraded version (6 categories plus the sound clip doesn't disappear when you show the hint).
As for finding the the lyrics, I mainly use colorcodedlyrics.com and then just google search the ones that I can't find there. I recommend only using English lines from the chorus or bridge. They won't be able to guess random English lines during the verses.
Also, keep in mind your age group. Middle school students are more likely to know new generation KPop (A-Pink, AOA, EXID, EXO, Block B, B1A4, etc) while High school students are more familiar with old school KPop (DBSK, Super Junior, Shinee, Beast, 2PM, WonderGirls, SNSD, 4Minute, f(x), T-ara etc). I try to keep a good mix between the two.

If you have any other questions, PM me~ Hope this helps!

K-Pop Slam Twist New Games

All right here is the updated 2014 version, the new 2015 version and then the deluxe version (a combination of the 2 with 6 categories, the best songs, and more bonuses). They are mixed together because the Deluxe version uses songs from both. If you want to stretch the game into 2 class periods, download both the year versions. If you just want to play 1 game, I recommend the deluxe. I'm deleting the old 2014 version so please use this link from now on. Happy playing!

Awesome! My kids really enjoyed this format more than the normal ones. I was just about to make a new one for after exams, but you've saved me the trouble.

Is this supposed to be a link to several games or just one? I only see Kpop Twist 2015 when I open that link. It looks great, but I'd like to see all the versions you are speaking of, as I have been creating my own recently, and love seeing other people's versions here.

I updated the link. Not sure what happened the first time, but it should be correct now. Please let me know if you still have problems with it.

Hi Whitleybug,

I just wanted to say thank you for making the game. I made a few of these games a few years back, and I know how time consuming it can be just to put together just 1 question and answer.

@kimchi_aj

You might want to take surveys after playing this game and tell them that you'll make one with songs they recommend. I do this every semester to make sure I have an idea of what kids are into these days.

When I click one file, it comes full screen and I can only download that one file....I know I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.

Thanks anyway.
