Also origami gets them to quiten down and pay attentions, this bird origami is not too difficult for 1st and 2nd graders:

I used these ppts to introduce basic shapes to my third grade math class.  I found them useful.  The first ppt is excellent quality.  The second ppt has a few clitches but nothing major.

Here's a compressed PPT that used to be helpful during my elementary school days. We better have a variety to choose from than few!

PPT to teach shapes, Starts with introducing shapes, then students see regular objects and guess the shape, then there are scenes where they have to find shapes. My 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders all liked it.

i made a simple game out of taping six shapes of different colors on the board. i had the students close their eyes. They had to say what shape(s) and color(s) was missing. Worked for grades one and two pretty well.

I had to teach a math class to my grade 4 and 5 afternoon school. I had to increase their vocabulary regarding the different shapes and properties of shapes, based on what they already know, in order to describe them.
I used the PPT from other waygook members (Thank you) and made my own modifications. I also created a shapes worksheet for the students to practice what they learnt.

I gave each student a shape. Many students would have the same shape. Students will sit in a circle. I would call a shape and students will have to exchange seats. For example, if I called out "triangle," students whose shape is a triangle would get up and exchange seats. To make it more fun, I would take one seat out of the circle, so one student would not have a seat and would be in the middle of the circle.

Here is a color the shape worksheet. I copied it from the internet, so the words are fuzzy, so I put them at the bottom. There's "hidden" shapes this flower picture.  Look for the shape and color it a certain color as indicated.
