« on: April 13, 2011, 12:19:34 pm »
This link is the link for my material - including images for Commands, bingo sheets, bingo review and dialog ppt and an intro. learning powerpoint.
http://www.esolers.org/ESOL/lowbeginner/commands/

Here is the link for the intro learning powerpoint + game
http://www.esolers.org/ESOL/lowbeginner/commands/learning_ppt.ppt

It focuses on vocabulary and word-reading recognition.

The slides with 4 images on it is a "touch" game where 1 or more students come to the front and touch the image they hear you speak.

The reading comprehension slides at the end are self-explanatory.

Vocabulary
Mix of commands for a video my co-teacher likes to play, common classroom commands, and bodyparts related to the head

Stand up - sit down - turn around - go upstairs - listen - say "Goodnight" - say your prayers - touch the ground - touch your ear - touch your head - touch your nose - touch your mouth

I have been looking for something for this topic for aggggeeeesss today!!! thank you!!! :o  :)

I found some good warm-up vids on youtube.

It may be fun to have the students do the action along with the song.

Here's another one. If my CT and I have time, we will try to use the song track and make a video of ourselves doing the actions and have the kids follow along.

It works in Firefox.

Try copying the link location.  Opening PowerPoint.  Then, go to open a file and paste the link into the box.  It should download and open the ppt.

With Explorer, with pptxs, it does not open correctly.  I don't know how to change that.  But again, this doesn't happen with Firefox.

Good luck...

Oh man! Good job! My students will love this game. I'll be using this today.  :D

Any chance you could upload this again in .ppt format?
The links from the game board slide don't seem to work.
Otherwise, great job and I'd really like to be able to tweak it and use it myself!  ;D

I'll see about uploading a ppt not pptx version tomorrow.

I can't take credit for the original game - I downloaded it here - I just put in items for the current chapter.

I've used the game a few times now, and it is working fine on my and my co-teacher's computers.

I think I also tested the link and it worked.

But let me know if there are continued troubles.

The review includes:

common commands (stand up, sit down, listen, turn around, touch your ____, and say ____)

classroom items (wall, floor, ceiling, marker, bookbag, bookcase, notebook, and more)

If you want to modify the game, just Cut the scoring images, add your material, then Paste the scoring image back onto the slide...

Hello,

I've taken the suggested key phrases/commands from the textbook and added a couple more to make a lesson out of this topic. I also played a snatch game where you make little cards with each of the commands/key phrases on them. Give one set to each team. Have the students divide the cards amongst themselves and keep their hands behind their back (it's more challenging). Then you can call out a command or do an action and the first team to snatch and show you the correct card gets a point.

Took a Mario template here and made some minor changes. I also included good morning, good afternoon, good night, what's this and what's that. The more the kids practice, the more likely they will retain it. I taught the kids  "what's this?" is for asking things nearby and "what's that?" is  for asking things far away, so in the mario bomb game, you will see Grover from Seseame street near and far.

hello here is my lesson for I am sorry I am stole the intro part from emmab (thanks for that). We played musical chairs. you will see in the power point. I split the class into two groups so one group watched and one group played.
It works really well. so when it say jump the students jump and so on. I hope it helps.
