I added a few more body parts to match the worksheet I was using.  I just thought I'd post it in case someone wanted to use it.

I am doing a lesson on body parts for 3rd and 4th graders. Does anyone know any fun games to play? I am planning on playing Simon says, singing some songs (Head, shoulders, knees and toes) but am trying to find a few other fun games to play. Thanks!

An easy an fun game I use for body parts goes like this:

Divide the class into 4 or 6 teams. (this of course is dependent on class size. with a small class you can have the students play individually)
Hand out blank paper to each student.
Give a dice to each team, or use one dice for all teams.
Write the numbers 1-6 on the board.
Assign body parts to each number. If you like you can assign mutiple body parts to each number.
eg. 1-head, 2-arm/hand, 3-leg/foot, 4-ears/eyes, 5-mouth/nose, 6-body

The game follows like this.
Each team takes turns in rolling the dice, and draws the body part associated with the number they roll.
They may not draw the body part unless the first body part has been draw.
eg. eyes ears, mouth, and nose can not be drawn until the head has been drawn.
arms and legs can't be drawn until the body is drawn....and feet and hands can't be drawn unless arms or legs have been drawn.

Students enjoy creating a person/ monster one body part at a time comparing each others' pictures. And with this game you can incorporate as many body parts as you like, because the students are sure to roll each number many times and they have more fun when they roll and are able to add a body part to their drawing.
but what do I know, I will forever be a student

they always like BINGO - I use the mes-english bingo cards and have the students draw a card from my playng card set.  The class calls out "What's this?" and the student pulling the card says "It's an arm".  Whenever we play Bingo, the winner has to be able to name the body parts in their bingo

I designed/conducted an Eric Carle Camp this past winter.

We spent a day on Body Parts using a the book: From Head to Toe

Here's the thread w/ that story and others:
http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,3784.0.html

BY FAR my students favorite activity was the 'Hilarious Body' Drawing activity...similar the game Pass the Paper/Telepictionary. Every Student starts w/ one piece of paper - the Teacher says "Draw a Head" - Ss obey. Ss pass paper in one direction, Teacher says "Draw a Neck" - Ss obey then pass the paper. Eventually they understand that they can make arms as ridiculous as they want to and it's not problem! I advice AGAINST having students write their names on a paper b/c then they assume it's a photo interpretation of them and might hate the game (or that could have just been my one group...). At the end you can have them label the body parts to further re-inforce body part names ^.^

As a warm up/conclusion exercise I play a game with my students, which they love.

I split the class into teams, and have one person in their team come and stand at the front of the class. I give each team a stack of post-it notes with body/face parts on. The teams must race and put the post-its on the correct body part of the volunteer at the front of the class. If any post-it notes are stuck on the wrong part of the body, tell the students it's wrong, and have them re-post it. the first team to get all the post-it's on the right body part wins.

I took some of the previous body part pictures and made a memory matching game out of them.  Enjoy. :)
I am often amazed at how much more capability and enthusiasm for science there is among elementary school youngsters than among college students.

Here's a quick PPT you can use to teach a few body parts. I suggest that you use the "head, shoulders, knees and toes" song afterwards. Enjoy!  ;D

Hi!  I made this PPT game for a 1st & 2nd grade afterschool class.  Each slide shows 2 very different clowns.  The kids are given a series of clues to help them decide if the answer is clown A or clown B.  It worked really well with my kids, so I hope someone else can get some use out of it!

I've made a quick ppt and a worksheet for the first lesson of a series looking at body parts. These are to fit with the song 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'. This will be taught to low level grade 3 and grade 4 elementary. I'm sorry, you won't be able to adjust anything.

Here's a lesson I did on body parts during Winter camp and it went over like gangbusters, prob most successful lesson during the whole three weeks.
In the case of camp I taught the lesson twice for 2 hours each hence the amount of material. A lot of it is low level so, mostly for younger grades but prob can be used anywhere where they haven't been introduced to body parts.

I did videos first (they had to dance and follow the video movements), then flash cards, then worksheet and then game and then ended with flash cards again.

I need to say the only thing I created was the lyrics sheet, the rest I got from ESL KIDS and from here.  :-) Just giving back.
EDIT: We did Simon says a couple of times and the Mr. Potato Head is for listening. They had to color the part I called out with a certain color i.e. color the ears red, etc.

Here's a bomb game I made using the MES English flashcards. I just entered them into the Super Mario Bomb Game that I downloaded from Waygook.org. The effects are awesome, and the kids LOVE Super Mario Brothers.

So, while all the hard work was done by someone else...hopefully you can get some use out of the game.

Love Waygook...thanks supporters and donators!

I have a few fun games that I play with the elementary students when teaching body parts, and they don't require a TV, which can be nice sometimes.

I made two dice that have different parts of the body on them.  Eye, Mouth, Arm, Leg, Nose, and Ear on one die, and head, hand, foot, hair, fingers, and toes on the other.

Game #1:
Students are divided into teams (2-4 teams is easiest), and each team has a body outline on the board, or on a large piece of paper.  The teams take turns rolling the dice.  If they get arm and head, they can draw one arm, and one head.  If they roll head next time too, they don't get to draw it.  Each team is trying to draw a complete person.  If a team rolls a hand, before they have an arm, they cannot draw it. The team to complete a full person first wins.

Game #2 - Monsters!
The teams have a body on the board, or on paper, and they roll one body die, together with a number die.  If they get 3 and arm, they have to draw 3 arms on their Monster.  After a certain amount of time, stop to see who has the best looking monster.

I have included a 'bomb' on the die as well, so that if rolled the team has to erase one part of their person/monster.

Game #3.
To test their vocabulary, I read a description of an alien, and the students have to draw it.
For example, I will say, "this alien has two heads", and the students draw two heads.  Then I will say, "it has 8 arms", when finished, we look at all of the aliens that they drew.

Be the change you want to see in the world.
