Need a 20ish minute video, suggestions?
« on: February 06, 2015, 02:17:23 PM »
Hey folks. So it's my last class with the grade 6's next week and my co-teacher wants to keep it simple and easy, so she suggested showing them a video then doing some kind of activity based on that.

Any suggestions on videos I could use? Preferably something I can find subtitles for, since I have quite a few low level students.

simpsons episode? quite easy to get subtitles and activities for, in fact I think there are some on here somewhere.

Failing that you could collect 4 or 5 5 minute clips of different stuff

Adventure Time episode...google it on naver and a blog with links to the eps with subtitles will come up. Find one with more Finn/Jake stuff as they seem to prefer that. I showed one that was all about Bubblegum/Marceline arguing over a teddy bear/t-shirt sniffing something or other. They didn't like that one compared to the one where everyone gets turned into a zombie and Finn saves the day.

Adventure Time with Subs.

each episode is 11 minutes.
So you want to be real artists. It's okay. I can sell that angle. But you two have to go all the way. One of you has to lose an ear!

Mr.Bean clips work for my grade 6 kids. The live action or animation. There is little speaking so no need for subs :)

use an episode from 아빠, 오디가? (Dad, where are you going?) or Gag Concert with English subtitles. Usually they're longer than 20 minutes or so. If not, 모한도전 also works. But try to have students pick out English words or sentences and write them down, then quiz them in the end of what English words or sentences did they wrote down. Works well in any grades. 3rd graders (low level) have them write down easy words. Advanced students who can write well have them write sentences.
