So I had my lesson plan already done last year...so I just spent my time making extra worksheets you can use. ^^

Forgot to put up my general use language/vocab PPT from last year. I've improved it a bit anyway, so here goes. There's one of these already up for most units in the book. All have little togglable stress icons that you can play around with.

Also, if anyone hasn't noticed, the game cards the teacher's guide constantly refers to are "conveniently" missing from the student books. They are tucked away on the CD, but not exactly printer-ready. I've grabbed the images off the CD, cut the whitespace to squeeze four sets on to a page and also added cards for the Scouts and RCY. Should be ready to print (mount) and slice.

Last year instead of a card game we did a survey for the second lesson. The worksheet is attached.

Finally, there's an extended Roleplay script for the fifth lesson. We had them assume celebrity roles for it to make it a bit more interesting. The celebrities listed are from last year, so update with whoever is flavour of the month this year.

Pirates of the classroom to practice "How's it going?" and "What club are you in?"
I really wanted to change "reading club" to book club and "singing club" to music club BUT I kept with the vocab in the book.

Great game. I added more points to the spaces and also a 'steal' card so it truly feels like pirates in the classroom. ;)

I added the 1 point card, stars as 3 points, and thief was steal 2 points.

Extra vocabulary to add if you feel like the material is too simple for your students.
Extra vocab includes:
- Knitting club
- Dodge ball "
- Ping pong/Table tennis "
- Postcards "
- Calligraphy "
- Cub Scouts "
- Art Book "
- Origami "
with Korean translations. My students have English notebooks and we had them write each new vocab word 5 times each.

For the last part of the lesson, they made club posters. Here is a simple PPT that gives them instructions on what is required for their poster.
Happiness is a choice.

This is a PPT and game I made for lesson 2 (speaking).

Each student gets a card.  On the card will be the name of the club that they are in (I'm in the cooking club, I'm in the dance club, etc).  Also on the card will be the name of person they have to find (Find someone in the baseball club, Find someone in the chess club, etc).  Students use the dialogue (What club are you in?) to find the person they are looking for.  When they do, they have to hold hands (just one hand).  Students continue asking until the whole group has formed a circle (there is only one person per club).

I had 13 students, so I made 13 cards with 13 different clubs.  If you have more students, add however many clubs you need to.  If you have less, take away some cards.  Just make sure that the students can form a circle (each club has a member + someone who has to find that member).  After they had formed a circle, I asked them individually what club they were in and they had to respond.  This activity worked well.

Hey so needed a game and got the idea to add some new rules and to edit an old pass the ball template into a new game called pass the dice (groundbreaking I know).
But my 6th graders get seriously bored with simple games because they've played them so many times so a few adjustments adds some fun to these old games.
This games takes like 10 minutes of prep because you need to print out the pictures that I have included, cut them and tape them to the 6 sides of a big dice.

How to Play
So with this version the students are divided into 6 teams. Pass the dice among all students, when the music stops the student who has the die must close his eyes and toss the dice. The other students ask him "What club are you in?" and then he answers according to what picture is on the face of the dice.
This is where the teams come in. So if the dice were to land on a 1 then team 1 gets a point. If it landed on a 5 then team 5 gets a point etc. This is why I have the students close their eyes when they toss the dice because they're tricky little monsters who try to cheat.

Honestly this game can be edited to fit your class rooms needs. I've thought about doing this and just dividing the class into 2 teams and having each number mean something different. Like 1 means -1 for team A. 2 Means -1 for team B. 3 means +2 for team A. 4 means +4 for team B, Etc but just trying this version first and we'll see how it goes.

Hope this game is a help to someone.

Reading Chain Game- class reading challenge.
(cards & brief explanation ppt attached)

-Give each student one card. Each card has a listening square and a speaking square.
(I printed 2 of each card, so students could stand up in pairs. You can easily adjust the cards to have solo readers and extend the chain).

-The teacher starts the chain by asking, "How's it going?".

-Student(s) with "How's it going?" in the listening square stand up, and then continue the chain by reading their next sentence in the speaking square.

-Practice as many times as you want, and time your classes to make it a class competition!
*fastest class to get through the chain wins*

*You can also collect the cards and distribute new cards each time to make it more challenging for students  ;D
