I see it in every culture. I'm missing something? Is it cute for teenagers?

Why do people have to make it a point to hate on "duck" lips? Because it's an internet fad or...?

Sometimes it looks silly, yet, there are thousand of pictures where girls pucker their lips and it looks fine, or better.

Who gives a ****.

I wonder if it has something to do with deflecting the inherent awkwardness and overt vanity of standing around taking pictures of your own face.  It's kind of like false modesty or self-deprecation...  It allows someone to be the focus of attention while providing an avenue of plausible deniability with regards to their vanity.  "If I look a little silly doing it, maybe people won't think about me standing in a bathroom staring at myself as though I deserve attention", must be what they think.

I'm just wondering if something was behind it. I asked about the (v) sign a long time ago and was told it was a (V) for victory sign. Not peace? No, Victory...ok

The question in this thread would have been great back in 2009. I didn't know people still cared about duck face.

What gets me is the expressionless smirk that Korean women always make in photos. At least they are trying to smile though, usually Koreans just frown and look super serious when they have their photo taken. Photos of principals at public schools are hilarious.

They think it looks sexy. They're wrong.

They think it looks cute.  And judging from the attention they receive from men, they're correct. 

Most Korean guys like aegyo, so most Korean girls do aegyo.  It's not rocket science.

Dates back to the Hundred Years War when the French cut of the fingers of English bowmen. The English used this to taunt the French.

Though I have heard that, it is probably a myth.

With the palm facing out it stands for victory and started during wwii. It began to mean peace during the 1960s.

Speaking of victory, a great wwii movie is Escape to Victory where an American saves the world with his amazing soccer skills.

Wow, very insightful. I totally agree with you here. I don't think most girls do the "duck lips" to be more attractive, as other have suggested.
