A shiny new PPT that goes through all of the vocab in this lesson, good for first or second period.

I showed the person (Bruce Lee, Justin Beiber, Mr Bean) and had them shout out the full sentence "I'm from China/Canada/England." If they couldn't guess another click brings up the flag. A third click reveals the name of the country.

Last couple of slides are review with missing words, I'd just say hands up and have students say the complete sentence.

Also attached some image files for large A4 paper sized faces. I printed, cut them out and used chopsticks to make masks. I handed them out to the students and had them go around the classroom asking and answering Where are you from? They found it hilarious.

The second thing is a bit labour intensive but if you've got the free time it's worth it.

I made a PPT of ordinal numbers. This lesson is very country heavy so I wanted to focus on this method of counting. I made 1st to 30th and then I went by 10 all the way to 100.

Here's an intro / review PPT that reinforces the two key grammar points (Where are you from? / What grade are you in?) using cartoon / fictional characters that are popular in each of the respective countries.

I also included a quick illustration of ordinals (first through sixth).

I was pleasantly surprised that some of my students knew Bob the Builder and Caillou.  Several even insisted that the Little Prince is from Mars / Space rather than France (which I conceded).  I used ones like Chhota Bheem (India) and Monica (Brazil) as a chance to tell the students that those are universally known in their own countries (like Pororo is here).  They seemed to enjoy it.  Hope this is useful!
Very nice!  I used this for my period 1 today with a few modifications, and it went very well.  Thanks.

I changed out a couple of characters, and added a game at the end, called 7-Eleven (there were eleven countries, and they had to identify 7 of them from the clues). I'll attach my version.  AND NOW UNATTACHED

Apologies if posted already; here's a video of "Let it Go" from Frozen in 25 different languages. I'm sure everyone is sick to death of this song but it makes for a nice little opener to a class on the topic of "where are you from?"

Here's a sentence lotto game and a warm-up (catch the sentence).  You may want to edit the warm-up since I included sentences that are not in the book (I'm from Mexico, etc)

Let's Read

Review of P3 Look and Read then motivation for RIO CARNIVAL. Watch first and pick which part of the video you'll play. The video should open when you click on the very last slide on "BRAZIL".

Enjoy!

Simple Pass the Ball game using the key expressions. I'm using this as a warm-up for Lesson 2 to see what they've learned from Lesson 1, so the questions aren't too difficult and should be easy for everyone to remember if they've paid even a little bit of attention, which is still being hopeful I guess.

Hi Teachers^^

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the teacher's guide?
If so, would it be possible to please upload a copy if you've been able to download it? Even if it's for the first lesson, it would be greatly appreciated :cheesy:
Apparently we won't be getting the teacher's guides until end of the week/early next week (gg daekyo).
Thanks everyone!
Here's lesson 1

Where do we find these files? is this something our coteachers have to give us or is it on the cd's or online somewhere? These would be great to have for all 5 of my textbooks so I don't have to lug home those giant teacher's guides whenever I need to reference them while lesson planning.

They are on the CDs.  At the CD's splash page, click on 교사용자료실  and then look for 대본 .

FFS people. I've been looking at some of these materials. THIS:

is NOT the flag for ENGLAND. It's the flag for Great Britain.

THIS

is the flag for England.

The United Kingdom (UK) is made up of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Great Britain is the name of the main island of the United Kingdom. So Great Britain is made up of England, Scotland, and Wales.

How can we expect our students to know this stuff if we don't?

Review games: Unscramble and Famous People.

Simple unscramble game. I played this as an individual game. I have the students about 10 seconds to look at the spelling of all the countries. Then, they had to unscramble the country's name.

Famous People Game. This was a group game. I gave each group a whiteboard, marker and eraser. They had to pick one of the countries (or 'none') and write the answer.
This year, most of my 6th graders are high level or average. Maybe if your class is mostly low level, then take out the 'none' option and focus on the 6 countries. I have an extra point to the teams that could guess the correct answer for the 'none' answers. The students really enjoyed this game.

Here are all my materials. Most of them are taken from this site and adapted, so all credit to the original creators! I also used different lessons with different classes, so some of the activities were repeated.
