English name picker
« on: March 04, 2015, 04:10:05 PM »
This is a random picker for anything you put in the list. I added English names for assigning English names to my students [I think it's a fun experience for them to learn the pronunciation of an English name, and it will also make it easier for me to learn their names.]

English girl names

English boy names

Once you choose the name for the student, press the remove button so that there aren't any repeats in one class. Then, just press the "fruit machine" button again.

You can also use it (by making a new list) for other things like vocabulary words, or a class list for picking a student to answer a question.

In public school these days I just go with Korean names, but in my hagwon time I used to let the students pick their own English name. Write the alphabet on the board and have the student pick their favorite letter. Then write out three options of that given letter -- Jeremey, Josh, Justin -- and have the student pick their preferred name. Cross out that letter and let the next student choose. Each student having a unique lettered name makes it even easier to memorize them all!
