I mean, give them the Kpop lesson, make your points, but at least point out ways in which Kpop might be something positive, empowering, etc... Right?
Pls explain how pin-ups and such has led to the degradation of America... and how erotica is the downfall of Korea.... actually don't.I don't know if I should even get into this discussion.. I can see it getting ridiculous....

I taught them a lesson about how much bullshit kpop is and how it lessens their self esteem and influences them/their consumption. The singers are all fake robots who don't give a shit about them, they have plastic faces, and etc... Obvious for us but a revelation to the students. All or at least 3 of my 4 classes gave me an ovation at the end of the lesson. The kids are hungry for this type of information. I wish I would have learned similar things when I was in high school. So I try to share stuff like that with the kids. That's really interesting man. One would probably have to go about this more delicately with middle schoolers etc. Do you have ppts that go with such lessons? I'd be interested in taking a look at them. I know you can find stuff on here about "beauty" and what it is and touches upon korea being number 1 for plastic surgery and how beauty doesnt have to mean one thing etc etc.I have a real simple ppt that didn't use most of. I ended up gearing the discussion towards kpop. I showed an Elvis controversial video for its time and showed a Miley Cyrus video and showed how much we have devolved or become desensitized to erotic imagery. Then I talked about kpop and how fake they are. One interesting comparison I have discovered after making the lesson is 1940's pin ups to Kpop girls. They both show a lot of leg but that's it. So you can see where kpop is headed. Anyway I attached the ppt. I am working on more and can post them as I go.

Now is the time to wake up! Now is the time for revolution! :yawn:I just want to respond to this because it's a really big misconception of Marxism. Marx and Engels never 'called for' a revolution. They just thought it was the inevitable end to capitalism. It wasn't about a bunch of bored over-educated young people deciding to start a riot. It's about workers not being able to provide for themselves anymore due to the nature of capitalism and being forced to violently overthrow those that support such a system. You can agree or disagree whether or not a revolution is inevitable, but we have to present the theory honestly first. As to the OP. Dude, this stuff should have been covered in a dorm room while smoking various things years ago. I remember thinking about this stuff bored in my room as a teenager, and this was before youtube and the internet. I think you can find similar screeds from my journal at the time if you can get through all the terrible poetry, haha.
