Special needs students worksheet
« on: March 16, 2015, 12:11:08 PM »
I would like to make a handout for my special needs students to practice writing. Has anyone made anything that they're willing to share?

Pressed for time at the moment but there are some free fonts (dot) that are great for making words traceable rather than solid.

Great for making worksheets.

I can't upload from my school computer (too slow :undecided:) but I make simple word searches using this website: http://tools.atozteacherstuff.com/word-search-maker/wordsearch.php. About half of my special needs students can do them without a problem. Just make the font size bigger, keep the word list to between 10 and 15 and make sure the words only go forward (as opposed to forward and backward). I also have a couple students who enjoy drawing. So I will print up the vocab list and leave a space for the student to draw a picture of what it is. This works especially well for learning body parts, school objects, things you find in the house, etc.

If you're doing simple reading or letter recognition activities like the wordsearches above, be sure to go download the OlpenDyslexic font. It's designed specifically to alleviate confusion between letters that are similar when mirrored, and each letterform is also "bottom heavy".

There's also a stroke order diagram font in the signature below.
