2015 Grade 5 Cheonjae 3 - 2. I Like Math
« on: March 16, 2015, 03:55:46 PM »
Lesson 2-1
Here is an introduction lesson covering Key Words and Expressions in both English and Korean.
Also, a worksheet to go along with it for students to write vocabulary and key sentences.

Lesson 2-2
Disappearing dialogue for memorization practice. (from Look & Say)

Lesson 2-3
Star Writing Game. Students pick one word/sentence to write down per ppt slide. Then, you click each revealing the starts (points) underneath. Stars = points. Most points at the end wins.

Lesson 2-4
Reading Race Board Game. One student starts at A, the other at B. They RPS to see who goes first. They can use erasers as a game piece to keep track of their position. They alternate reading each box, and when they meet, they have to RPS. Winner keeps going, loser has to go back to start. The winner is whoever makes it all the way to the other side of the board.

Lesson 2-5
Role-playing. I made a script that is essentially the same as the one in Act Out. Students have to fill in the blanks with their own answers, and then present in groups of 3.  I put each script in a plastic sleeve so students could write with dry erase markers and then I could reuse the script for multiple classes. =]

Lesson 2-6
Pokemon Bomb game for review. I put in a few questions from Lesson 1 as well. You can get the required fonts here: http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,22140.0.html

Just a quick Four Corners PPT.

If you don't know Four Corners... Designate the four corners in the classroom as A,B,C,D. Read the sentences together or listen and repeat depending on your focus. A picture flashes across the screen showing the correct sentence/corner. Give the students 5 seconds to go and stand in the correct corners. Students who go to the wrong corner are out, but can rejoin if they guess the right sentence from their seat. (I ask these students to show 1,2,3 or 4 with their fingers to show A,B,C or D when the times out). Slide 7 is different because it asks students to read and guess which sentence is 'wrong'.

Good for lessons like this where the target English is simple but there's loads of it.

Here's a Blazing Pens game for some writing practice.  Side note, I was amused that the sample used for the sing and dance part turned out to be from "Don't Worry, Be Happy".

Yeah the song from lesson 1 was Payphone wasn't it? Or something I recognized anyways.

Here's a telepathy game I made for the writing portion of the book. (The template I used came from this site, I just changed the language to reflect that of the chapter)

Here's a worksheet I found that I am using for period 4 :)  I am explaining like + noun and like to + verb.  I will also write the dialogue on the board and write in the empty spaces either noun or verb (in korean. myeongsa or dongsa.)

Here's my standard word search with a Magic Seed game I've modded for this lesson.  It's like Mystery Box with some really crazy points to get the students going.

Here is a PPT of Lesson 2 Listen & Play page 29.

Before you do the Listen & Play activity, use the PPT to cover what sentences match the picture cards from the back of the book. The pics in the PPT are the exact pics taken from the book with the appropriate sentences. It will make playing the game a little bit easier for them.

Great materials so far in this thread. Thank you all.

Here's a star writing game. It's like a telepathy/word lotto game. The students choose a word or sentence and write it down on the worksheet that I give them. Then when every ones finished writing, I call out a number and that student must read any word/phrase from the screen (regardless of if its the one that they wrote down) and I will click to reveal the number of stars, then the students must color in the appropriate number of stars on their paper. The student(s) with the most stars is the winner. My students really enjoyed this game.
