Lesson 2 - Listening and Speaking (미래엔- Grade 3)
« Reply #1 on: March 27, 2015, 05:28:03 PM »
pages 32-34

I do the listening (pages 32-33) in the first lesson, and the speaking (pages 33-44) in the second.

There is a mario bomb game to accompany the listening class (I tried it for the first time this week and the kids loved it, although some had played it before...)

I made a hotseat type game for the activity in the speaking class. The rules are in the pt but please ask me if you have any questions. The idea is to get the kids to say the 'I'm afraid you're wrong' and stuff during the game.

This is probably too late to help anybody, but there's always next year!

This is to practice "I'm afraid you're wrong." There's a short quiz, the questions for which I think all came from somebody's General Ignorance quiz on Waygook. If the first student answers incorrectly, the next person should start with "I'm afraid you're wrong. It's ___." I gave them a point for using the target language and 2 points for the correct answer.

After doing the textbook, they do the game from page 35. I gave them famous people cards to make their own hints with, because if I let them choose their own topic, they'd take forever to decide on anything.

The lesson 2 speaking powerpoint is a great idea, but there is a mistake or 2. There is a slide on Chile, the country, and it says Machu Pichu is in this country. That is incorrect. Machu Pichu is in Peru.

A grammar question...

On page 44, the answer is "When I finally arrived at school, the first class just had started"

surely that's "When I finally arrived at school, the first class had  just started"

This is a Find the Sticker reading game for page 32.

I included other examples of the dialogue about 'forgetting things' 'losing things' and 'not bringing things'

Each slide, either one or two students from a team must choose two boxes that go together. Some are fill in the blank, some matching, some finishing the phrase.

Hello! For those that cover the grammar points, here are my lessons on the Past Perfect Tense and "to/too usage" for the unit.

Past Perfect Tense
After going through the PowerPoint and the textbook we played Family Fued. I used the template from Waygook (Thanks to the person who made it). The students loved this. I gave a category "Before Christmas _____" Before I went to sleep ________". They had to complete the sentence using the past perfect tense. "I had brushed my teeth" "I had bought presents" etc. They already had memorized all the past participles so this was a good way to get them using them.

Too Usage
After going through examples and some riddles we played Top 5 (thanks to the person who made the template). I made a sentence using the grammar point, for example "Things that are too expensive to buy as a present". They had to write down 5 things they thought met the category. They liked this.
