Lesson 3 - Listening (미래엔- Grade 3)
« Reply #1 on: April 06, 2015, 02:14:17 PM »
ppt for pages 54-55

Covers the textbook and workbook activities, with a 'beat the sheep' activity for the talk 1 dialogues. I have two balls labelled A and B that the students pass around the class. when the sheep baa's they have to read the dialogue on the screen

You'll need to download the audio file for the sheep part of the ppt.

Lesson 3 - Speaking (미래엔- Grade 3)
« Reply #2 on: April 14, 2015, 06:17:09 PM »
ppt for pages 56-57

Covers the speaking work and includes a true / false activity - students have to think of 3 things they can't stand (two false and 1 true) the others have to guess which is the true one.

bonus doraemon ppt game (thrown together from a game from another class) that I use for the very low level class or if we finish early. Doraemon ppt template is by Sprite (i think...) and I spruced it up with some cartoon gifs

Where's the Doraemon game? I think you may have uploaded the worksheet twice instead of the game.

Thanks, by the way! These are simple lessons but a godsend when I'm out of ideas. :D

doraemon game, forgot to upload it earlier... like I say, it's very basic - I made it for a 1st grade class, but I used it with my 3rd grade C boys because they are VERY low level, and can't really participate in other activities.

@nebulasprout, thanks! If you have any lesson ideas then please start uploading them! I'm always in need of more lesson ideas....

Here is a simple game review for lessons 1-3

The game is called Mystery Box and my 3rd graders really enjoyed the game! I was just happy they were speaking!!! Also I throw in some random slides that have nothing to do with the lesson but just added them for fun. There is a slide with my picture on it, when they got to that slide... I made that team stand up and read it out loud and do a funny dance for laughs. You should change that to yourself or to something else related. Hope this is helpful  ;D

@tburns316

Did you forget to attach the game?

Also, there is a separate thread for review lessons here:

I only teach the phrases.

For Talk 1 I did the PPT and then had them do a game where they needed to progress on a game board by going around and thanking different classmates for different things and each of those things were assigned points (spaces to move on their gameboard).  They could only go to each student once and the student would just reply with one of the phrases from the PPT.  First student to get to the end of their gameboard won.

Talk 2 ("I can't stand") I made into a lesson about pet peeves.  I explained pet peeves and then introduced them to common ones.  Then I broke them up into teams and 1 student from each team would come up and act out a pet peeve.  The first team to guess what it was by saying, "I can't stand _____" would get the point.

For the expressions, here are two PowerPoints (I used some slides from people here so thank you!). For I can't stand I talked about things I can't stand about Korea (Nothing serious, just things like crossing the street, taking the bus etc). For "I appreciate" we played this gift giving game the students liked. Students picked a present and answered a question. They would then decide what team to give the present too (some presents had good things and others bad things). The receiving team had to say "I appreciate it." even if it was a bad present.
for "I can't stand" students made sentences and we played pictionary.

For those that teach grammar, here are two PowerPoints that explain "What as a relative pronoun" and "Although usage". I taught although using famous people.

I played family feud for "What as a relative pronoun" and top 5 for although usage. It didn't go over too well. So instead I'll just suggest categories for "what as a relative pronoun". Make a category "When I go to the beach what I will need is ____" and they have to list as many things as they can in that category.
