Here are some games and materials I made / some Ppts I changed to fit Listen and Talk 9.

1: (Talk 1) Connect Four. The students play with a partner. You will have to show how Connect Four is supposed to be played for them to understand. (Least Favorite)

2. (Talk 1) Telephone. Each row will get the Telephone Paper. The teacher has the TelephoneTeacher paper. The back person in each row gets a paper. The front person in each row goes into the hall with the teacher. The teacher chooses a sentence and shows the students. The students run back into the class and whisper the message back.  The back person finds the sentence, looks underneath it for the response, then sends the response forward. The front person tells the teacher.  This is a race. (The students liked this better than Connect Four.)

3. (Talk 2) Heads Up Seven Up. There is a ppt to help explain this to your students. The choosing students will secretly slip their card into someone's hand. After everyone opens their eyes, the students guess who chose them by saying the dialog on the card. Example, "Minji, why don't we go to a movie this weekend?"  If the student guessed correctly, the chooser says, "Okay, sure." If the student guessed incorrectly, the chooser says, "Sorry, but I can't." If you want to make it harder, write the full response on the ppt so the students can respond.  Example, "Sorry, but I can't. I'm supposed to take care of my brother." (3rd grade students loved this game.***)

4. (Talk 2) Minesweeper. (I just changed slides 5-8) Slides 5-8 are the actual game. I just use the first few slides to explain the game. This game works best if you use the print out and make partners from each team stand and speak. After they speak, they just pass the paper to the next two partners behind them, and when it is their team's turn again, those next partners go. This gets everyone to speak and they seem to have more fun when it is structured like this. (The students really enjoyed this.)
