« on: March 27, 2015, 02:30:03 PM »
Here is some good stuff to get this topic off the ground. Most of it has been adapted from last year's book.

So thanks to the original contributors.

hello, I made a listening game for this lesson. It's called quick slap and it's pretty easy (minor prep work). Each group of students gets 20 cards (10 cards and doubles). they lay them out on their tables, put their hands up, and teacher says a word. they want to slap the card with one hand only and if they get the card they keep it as one point. if 2 students fight over a card they can RPS or at teacher's discretion. this ppt reviews all the cards used, and then print the last slide, make copies and laminate/cut in the amnt you need. enjoy.

Here's my contribution for lesson 3. Be sure to check this post every now & again as I'll be editing it if/when I make more ppt's for the later parts of the lesson.

Pass the Ball game: Instructions included in the PPT. (Ideal for the first or second period)

Baskin Robbins 31 game: Students play in pairs, taking turns reading either 1, 2 or 3 boxes. Whoever reads box 31 is the loser. (Ideal for the fourth period)

Word Lotto game: Each student (or team, if you want to do it that way) has to write down any 3 words shown on the screen. Teacher clicks to reveal the next slide with the 3 "lucky" words. If anyone guessed all three right, they get a point. (Ideal for the fifth period)

We're starting this lesson on routines today, I found these funny videos for the kids to watch and discuss :

Lego Movie Morning Routine : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVYkO-bRpGg

Morning Routine Spongebob: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcFVUGNUWuk

Also, for later on in this lesson I will be doing a project - the lesson plan is posted on my blog: http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2014/07/a-funky-project-for-learning-times-and.html
(it's a craft and writing project that worked really well with my grade 5s last year!)

Also, I attached a homework sheet - it's just the key phrases with Korean translations. I have my students copy this into their notebooks and write it out 3X for homework practice, then in the next class we do a test.

Spin the Mario Wheel READING game.

- Click on 24 questions tab
-Click on a block to go to a question (A2/B3)
-Click one more time to reveal the answer
-Click on the mushroom to go to wheel and click in the center of the wheel to spin
- Click on the mushroom to take you to the scoreboard, but bypass this (it only gives you an overview of the points for each symbol)
-So click on mushroom again and this will take you back to the alphabet board

here are some materials from me. i used these across multiple class periods, but you can of course decide to use them wherever you want.

1. Eraser flick game - the first few slides explain how to play, print out the very last slide for the actual game board
2. Interview sheet (from my co-teacher) + PPT explaining how to interview (from me)
3. Telling the time PPT - used this as the intro in the first lesson
4. PPT to go along with the Speak Aloud section on p. 45
5. I came up with a new story for the Reading Around Us section on p. 48 because myself and my co-teacher both agreed that the story there sucked. So there is a PPT i made with the new story on it, and then there is a Word doc which has the story on it too. Print out the word doc to give to the students.
6. Sleeping Elephants - this goes with the Read and Talk section on p. 49.

some more stuff from me.

1. Brief PPT on 'extreme school journeys'. use it wherever to make your students go 'oooh' and 'aaah'. i'm planning on using it at the end of the last period (Check and Jump) as a closer.
2. Word search for the Story Pot on p.52-53.
3. 'What's behind?' reading game. this uses phrases from the Story Pot as well as sentences from the story i came up with in my post directly above. i also changed it so that the students can now score points from 1-10 instead of trying to find the candies.

;D I adapted a board game from else where in this thread. It now includes both key sentences,  "I blah blah at time" and "I verb to place."

Here is what I used for part 6 (storypot). I played a game similar to running dictation.
I had 12 papers with sentences similar to the ones in storypot taped around the room. The whole class would read a question, then 1 person from each group ( I have 6 groups of 4) would find the correct paper, read it, then come back to tell their group the answer the question. The group writes the answer on a whiteboard. After about 30 seconds, I say stop and groups hold up their whiteboards and we check the answer. Then person 2 goes, etc. Hope it helps someone!

We did a computer based project where we completed a simple template using images we printed from online ...the kids could also draw or bring images from home...it was a good practice of time and something new.

Here's the lesson plan and download links: http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2015/05/daily-routine-computer-class.html

Probably too late for most teachers but I'm doing review and made some "codebreaker" worksheets using a website.
I made two versions with mostly the same sentences but different code. Answers are on page two of each PDF.

I made a "telling time" powerpoint for my students. I know they know how to tell time in Korean, this introduces them to the concepts in English. It also contains a telling time game, they have to draw/write the corresponding time on white boards based on the prompt. It also contains a "my day" activity at the end.

PS I know this topic thread died a while ago but I still want to add this here for others to use.
