Maps and Directions
« on: April 15, 2011, 08:08:15 PM »
I used this at my previous school when teaching the highest level of 7 year olds.  The worksheets are definitely taken from a workbook, but they were given to me by my co-teacher and she didn't think to add a reference (shocking, I know :p).  They would be good for a low level class, or could be used as a jumping off point for a higher level group of young learners.

Hope they help!

Directions activity

Hey all,

This is a fun activity to add to "Directions' lesson. All you need is a blindfold. I used my scarf.
How it works

1)Get the  student's to choose one person to blind fold. Then blind fold them
2) Use a pencil case or whatever object  you can find in the class.
3) Get a second student to place the object anywhere around the class.  (I have small classes, so I rearranged my class every time )

Now get the whole class to give the blind folded student dierctions to the object.  My kids had some much fun, they each wanted a turn.
Its simple but I found very effective. I hope it helps

To mkim0904

Sorry I haven't checked my Waygook account in a while. My class was 10 students. Perhaps, if you have bigger classes you can break them into groups of x.
Just a thought :)

Places and Directions

Didn't know where to post these but I really wanted to because they include some pretty groovy animations (by my standards!).

The first introduces places vocab (hopsital, church, school, that kinda thing) and the second introduces giving directions (go straight, turn right, turn left) and words about where places are (next to, opposite).

I like the look of this. I'll use the powerpoint and play a blindfold game with it tomorrow

I like this idea too, It would be great to get kids to think about how to communicate movement to someone who is blindfolded. i.e. turn to your left, which would be my right (If they are standing opposite each other)
