I HAVE DELETED THIS LESSON AS IT IS BEING MONIIZED AGAINST THE CONTENT CREATOR'S WISHES.

I very much welcome an open source system and am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the sites decision to charge for content. I uploaded content with the understanding that it would be used freely by other teachers and do not agree with it being monetized without my consent. Due to this change I have felt it best to remove my work.

Thank you for all those who have shared in the past and I hope the site will retract its new policy and return to an open community-led system.

Here are my materials for this lesson:
Practising the expressions with Psy, with scaffolding. REMOVED
An "English Drop" unscramble warm-up. REMOVED
A rebus warm-up, period 2 or later.  My students really enjoy doing a rebus! REMOVED
A reading race where the teams see who can read 8 sentences faster.  Make it lighthearted. REMOVED
A pair of games for doing individually in the the notebook or extra paper, bingo and a vocab game. REMOVED
My "English Espionage" game in which teams break the code and write sentences on their whiteboard.  The conceit is a spy is meeting the agent while shopping.  A student favorite.  I'll include the sound in case it doesn't embed for you. REMOVED

Period 2 Speaking Game
I played this game with my kids and they LOVED it! IT was also super realistic. I found the original market game idea on here.

I used the pictures from the back of the textbook as items. I made half the class buyers and half sellers. The buyers gave all their cards to the sellers. The sellers worked in pairs. They had to buy and sell using the dialog. I gave them 85 000 Won each. Winners: Sellers with most money or buyers who got all the items from the book.

Thank you so much for your CU ppt! The kids really got into it. I modified your PPT to be "How much are they?" and doubled the pictures. Are you okay with me posting the modified PPT here? I wanted to ask first since it was only available as a free download on the Teacher's site.

Lesson 13 - Period 4 (can also be used as the activity for Period 5)
Word Cloud - Writing (Art) Activity

  • Students choose 1 shape.
  • Fold the paper in half so that the silhouette is underneath.
  • On the blank side, write the expressions anywhere you see black (use the windows for back-lighting if you need it).

Expressions:
  • How much are the ________? (boots / glasses / slippers / socks / pants / skates / gloves / shoes)
  • They're ________ won.

To make it more interesting, all the items of clothing are 'branded' (Clash Royale / Harry Potter / BTS / Twice / Overwatch / PPAP).
The students were also allowed to write 'How much are the BTS pants?' and then they began writing all the members' names. As long as it was in English, I was okay with it.

I updated this introduction powerpoint for this year.  Now it includes the phrases "It's too expensive," "I'm looking for ____," and "I'll take it."  Also I spiced it up with more celebrity and character cameos.  Check it out!

I took the idea from another post on here and added a little extra. Basically, students will be in groups of four, and should have 3-4 cards each. On the back of the card, they will write a number. To start, the students will ask the question according to the picture (those, these, this, that). Then, the student who wrote the number, will say "up" or "down". The Ss. who guesses it right, will get to keep the card. The winner is the one with the most cards.

I've been using the fabulous resources on waygook all year.  I've also been writing lesson plans all year to give to my co-teachers.  So I'm basically just going to upload all my lessons in their entirety for anyone else to use.  I'm sorry, I haven't sourced all the games and slides that I have used.  Some of them I've made myself, of course.  A million thanks to all users who must have spent hours putting together PPT bomb games etc.

Some of my lessons have been hugely successful, others much less so.  Hey, we're working with kids - second-guessing them is a mine field, right?!  They seem particularly to enjoy games with cards or dice.  Running dictations and Sleeping Elephants always go down well. 

I taught two classes per lesson so my posts will be labelled (lesson title) 1 of 2 and (lesson title) 2 of 2.  I haven't edited anything since I used it.  Some of my lessons were over-planned ie there was too much for one class, so they have been carried over to subsequent classes.  Generally things should be pretty clear.  Feel free to PM me if you need any help with anything - but I will only be on waygook until 18 September 2024 when my subscription expires.

Shopping PPT Game for Period 2. Similar to a bomb game.

How to Play:
Groups will go "shopping," choosing between 6 items. Each group should first ask "How much is the (item that they want to buy)." Click on the picture to reveal the price. Then click the picture again to reveal the "Yes' or "No" options.  Students should say "I'll take it" for Yes, and "No thanks" for No. Click on either Yes or No to reveal how many points they got (1-5 points).
