changed Mr. C's a bit. 5 stations. always rotate. 4-4:30 for each station. did for period 5.

one powerpoint is for you to print (WS) and one is the PPT for you to use to explain the activities before you begin. that ppt also has the answers at the end.

so. you would print of page 1 of the ppt. this would be the worksheet. then you show the class pictures of characters on the screen and they fill in the blanks.

This is a monkey reading game that I found on a thread for another book. I play it differently and my students LOVE it. I have them all stand up and take turns reading a word. If they get a banana they have to sit down, if it's blank they are safe, and if they get a monkey, they can choose someone sitting to stand up. If you have a smaller class, you may need to remove some bananas.

Games I used for this chapter.

The "characters" doc was for a Guess Who game. One team would get a character card and describe it to the class, the first team to guess the character gets a point. (I also did this pictionary style where they would describe it to a teammate who had to draw the character based on the description and the class would guess).

Guess who game. Went really well with my students. Just read out the clues in order and have them write down their guess.

What's the difference? - Really great speaking game. 2 students on one team see one picture. The other 2 students see another picture. Then they talk about what they saw and try to figure out what the difference was between the pictures (shirt colour, outfit, etc).

Guinness world records and Who am I? -Good warm up activities. 

Last man standing - Great review game. The kids love it.

Give me 4 - I never had time to play this, but essentially I give and image of a person/ character. In teams of four the students each write down one thing about how they look like. Then a sentence appears and if they wrote that sentence down they get a point. Only good for higher level students.

This chapter can be very overwhelming for students, but it has so much potential in terms of games and activities.

For the 4th period class (reading), I did a funny warmer with dog pictures, a brief Odd-one-out game, and then Drawing Line as the main game.

The Drawing Line Game is similar to Sleeping Elephants but with drawing the description. It was a great success and gave everyone a laugh! I now have funny drawings to hang up around the classroom. Be free to edit and add more slides!
