Here is my lesson for the first week of lesson 4 on "what's wrong".  It's not the greatest ppt, but it's a start, I spend a lot of time just discussing the subject matter with the students since they are at a higher level

The PPT is a warm-up for the game. It covers a good chunk of the expressions from Listen and Speak and the Conversation pages.

My lessons are tailored towards my all boy's middle school. Their levels vary a lot so I tend to use at least 2 activities to try and involve everyone. My class absolutely detest doing the roleplays in the book so we do them as a class.

This is for Listen and Speak 1.

Credit for the cowboy game and the whisper game go to the other fantastic contributors on here.

Listen and Speak 2.

Review of the previous class, followed by asking them how they would feel in the given scenarios. We then as a class discuss what makes them nervous or worried, followed by the conversation in the book.

The speed reading template was found on this website, I have adapted it to suit my classes. Generally I start with 2 teams, and ask 4 students from each to compete. I time them and allocate points to the quickest team. Towards the end I make the entire team participate to involve the quieter students. The sentence game at the end is barely used as we generally do not have time at the end.

After doing Listen and Speak 1&2, I do 2 pages of the Conversation pages.
This is my review lesson for this chapter.

The secret code game, I print out the secret code document and give one between 2. Split the class in 2 and each team has a writer (which changes every 2 turns). Their respective teams help them to figure out what the words/sentence is and they will write it on the board. First correct word/sentence earns a point for their team. This game can get pretty loud.

Then 2 rounds of bingo - I usually play up to 5 bingo that way they have to listen a lot more. 2nd round I ask one of the students to read instead of me.
