Easter Lesson
« on: April 18, 2011, 10:13:08 AM »
I'm doing this lesson with my class and it's going pretty well.  I hodge-podged it together from lessons I found here and elsewhere.

Thanks for gathering the various resources together and posting them in one place.  I've seen several of these resources, but they're scattered and stuff.  And I didn't really want to use the South Park video in my class.  I really like your adaptations and additions!  Like you, I included some family pictures and traditions of coloring eggs. :)

Yeah, I sort of did a similar thing with the hodge-podge, and the students seem to be enjoying it reasonably well.  Of course, it's only been used with my early-morning, still slightly-rested-from-the-weekend students, so we'll see how it goes further into the week.  Glad your class is going well so far too, and happy Easter!

I liked the previous lesson; however, I have class which is supposed to have a listening focus.  So this lesson has material from various places, and some I made up.

1. There is a power point which talks about Easter.
2. Next students will listen to the Easter story then they will fill in the blanks of the script for the first half of the video.  Then at the "Death of Jesus" time point 2:07 in the video the script will end and students focus on questions Part II and answer them.
3. Then there is a PPT for a Find the Egg game.  Students can color in an egg then put on a blindfold and other students give them directions to find it.  If you are short on time just have the students close their eyes and find the egg without a blindfold after you quickly hide the paper eggs while they have their heads down.  They can then turn in only one egg each for a piece of candy.

I thought of a short PPT for the end of the class if there is extra time. It goes over
Easter Food from around the world. You can see the original Telegraph article if you want to have more details on the food, there is a link on the first slide of the PPT (They did a good job finding these.)

This could also be used as a short hot seat game after the presentation.
