So many more threads have been deleted, and so many more threads have been locked. I don't think I have ever been more disappointed with waygook.org than I am feeling right now.

It's not how you run a forum, but it is route one to the creation of more trolls or the loss of users. This has been terrible modding. A person's pride shouldn't get in the way. I hope there will be communication from Arsalan to the mod in question. This is not how you run a forum.

What are our alternatives? Can someone tell me where adults can go to discuss serious topics where there are no children moderating the boards?

Can't comment on the other threads but I think they did the right thing in the end with the MERS thread. It was over 20 pages long. There was some very good information but it was so cluttered it became troublesome getting through all the trolls. The mods definitely went about it the wrong way in the beginning  but with the creation of the FAQ and the opening of that thread I think that they have finally done the right thing. Not everything everyone does is perfect but they seem to have rectified their mistake and I personally like the new FAQ much more than the thread before that became cluttered with arguments.

Maybe they can just open the old MERS thread every Friday when the craziness comes out.

They did the right thing. Davey also provided a very suitable explanation. They also provided a MERS FAQ thread, and have unlocked it since then. They can't sit around 24/7 removing every troll post in order to preserve all the genuinely useful ones, especially at the rate these troll threads keep popping up. People who are angry because they removed your useful discussion shouldn't be mad at moderators, but at those who derail the topic, start fights, and post otherwise useless, or even harmful responses.

To be more concise: This is how you run a forum.

Avoiding trolls is easy. If you've been here for any length of time you know them by name.

See troll -> Scroll down. Problem solved.
The more you know.

I need to get this off my chest. Each person here is not the centre of the damn universe. Just because YOU recognize and and avoid trolls, does not mean the majority can. Just because you aren't freaking out about MERS doesn't mean others aren't. Just because you think something is clearly a joke doesn't mean others see it the same way. Too many people are so closed minded they think their train of thought is the exact same as everyone else.

You are looking out for yourself. *good* Moderators look out for the majority. You are not the majority.

Since this is up in the front of the homepage....WHY IS IT that I go to the appropriate forum to post my topic in and the topic I posted is not showing up on the main homepage.  Sure a few people have SEEN it but why is it not up in front so more people can see and contribute.  Just a curious gripe but not trying to bad mouth LOL

I still dont get how that thread was seen as bad enough to be locked. It was like 10% off topic. The majority of the information was relevent and appropriate.

I'd say your view is in the minority. Moderation is necessary, but if 90% of users are in disagreement with a mod action then maybe its time to stop and perhaps reconsider.

I would say it's easy and not time consuming to remove problem posts.

And sure that thread was long but it was constantly up to date with relevant information. Just because it was long, doesn't add any weight to deleting it.

Since then, multiple threads have been deleted. I predict this one will be deleted too.

Around this particular topic and with all those other deleted related threads, the modding HAS been too heavy. The modding reeks of emotional responses and personal pride getting in the way.

It's just a shame.

Let's get something straight. Those who posts definitely do not make up 90% of waygook users.

I think it's funny that people here and on reddit are getting so riled up about moderating at the same time. Maybe we have the same mods and they really love fat MERS.

Either way, I don't care. mods don't ban me

I'm not too sure I understand your point.

Certain forum sections don't make the main front page.. lesson plans.. teacher techniques..for sale items etc. If you posted in one of those sections, then by the nature of where you posted it, it wouldn't be on the main page. Does this make sense? Was this what you were talking about?

again, it's not the relevant information that's the problem ,it's the irrelevant information. Another problem is, what you consider as relevant, might be different from someone else. A mod can remove one post, and you'd be fine with it, but then others might not feel the same way as you. They then spam/complain on the thread/moderators about why their posts got deleted, or why they got points deducted, when others didn't.

Time required deleting 1 post is nothing.  Deleting 20? that's harder. Deleting 20, + each individual off topic post because of that method? that's even harder. Deleting all those, + replying to individual users, and giving explanations like what people have asked for, and making an "official" MERS thread, and continuing on with moderating the rest of the forum, and their own lives? That's bloody difficult.

Subject-verb agreement is a pretty vital part of English. REading your posts, you do seem to have a problem with it.

If this place hurts your feelings and makes you feel scared, maybe you shouldnt read the posts. Is MERS scaring you? The posts here getting you all worked up so you are glad the mod could give you some peace of mind? Grow up. You are an adult now.

Grow up. You are an adult now.

Why don't you lead by example there?

*Reading. You should generally only capitalize the first letter of the first word in a sentence. Do you live in a glass house, by chance?

I'm thankful for moderators.  I participate on a sporting forum back home and it has virtually no moderation.   They only people who participate on the sporting forum are:

*those people who dish out the ridicule and
*those people who can tolerate it.

The moderators on waygook probably give their time free of charge.
