Hello!

Reference: Do you know anything about it?

I have also made a family fortunes game. I surveyed the kids (about 50 of them), tallied up the answers and made the game. You'll need to change the 'do you know anything about England?' slide because it mentions me. Just push the answers up and put that they drink tea at the bottom. Or just delete it and/or any other slides depending on what you think they will find most interesting. Hope it helps!

Regards,

Ian

Dude, one of your slides "Do you know anything about Africa?"

- it is poor
- black people live there

C'mon man.

Stars Writing Game
Each student gets a worksheet and colors in how many stars they get for the sentence they write. I extended the time and made this a team game by having each team total their stars after each round. The team with the highest amount of stars got 3 pts, 2nd place got 2 stars and 3rd place got 1 star. Took about 25 min. Students really enjoyed this.

Such a stupid lesson.

I made an interactive PPT to make it a little more interesting. There are a bunch of different things listed - alligator, dentist, PPAP man, pyramid, etc. Each pair of students pick a word; the teacher says, "Do you know anything about...?" and the students try to explain best they can in English. Afterwards, click on the word to go to an slide to show the images (I tried putting some funny gifs and pics in)

Monster Island ~ 3D animated intro. Make sure you watch it all once before class, so the videos can buffer ~ Link Below:

Jigsaw activity. 8 pages total. Print out enough so that each student gets one page. Students need to walk around asking each other "Do you know anything about ________?" If they have that on their paper, they say "Yes, I do." and read the information about that person or thing. The other student writes down the information.

You may want to change "Jinhae" to the city where your students live, but Jinhae is fairly well known, so it might not be an issue.

Those are the students' answers, not Ian's.  He said he got the answers from surveying his students. Blame them.

As long as you ignore the ridiculous textbook examples and the awkward "I have no idea", this can actually be a fun lesson. I'm doing 2 simple activities.

Activity 1

Here's a general knowledge game I'm about to try.
Divide the class into 2 teams, preferably boys and girls. On the board, start with 1 or 2 categories e.g. music and countries.
A student from the team going first asks the opposing team "Do you know anything about BTS?" for example. They may ask about anything related to music or countries. Team B gets 1 point (to a maximum of 3) for every fact they can answer about the first team's question i.e. "They're a Korean boy group", "They have X members", "One of their songs is 'the handsome tapeworm'."

For Bonus rounds, you could ask a question to the class "Do you know another about the God Emperor and the first Primarch?... heretic." etc. and award points to the first person that answers.

Activity 2

I advise everyone to invest in a pack of ice-cream sticks. THis activity can be used for almost any lesson, across grades and levels. Give 3 ice-cream sticks to each students and write a Key expression on the board (I always pick something the students can relate to, not camel libraries). So, let's say it's "Do you know anything about Overwatch?"

The students walk around and ask the Key expression to whoever they meet. The 2nd student must give 1 (or 2 depending on their level) facts about Overwatch. They RPS and the winner gets a stick from the loser. The student with the most sticks is the winner.

Hey guys! I made this template to teach my kids about Christmas using the "do you know anything about ___?" structure. You can adapt it with your own information- it could also just be a Christmas-themed template for a regular lesson

I'm French/German/American so I'm uploading my original ppt also in case you're interested in teaching your kids about European christmas traditions. There are some pictures of me and my family's specific experience. I added a little info to the notes, but could be worth researching the traditions if you're using it.

For the template, all the text on ornaments should be linked to a slide. The red ornament on the info pages takes you back to the home page. To change the hyperlinks, right click on the text, go to the second tab, and change the slide you want it linked to.

Complete lesson including lesson plan
Grade 6 Cheonjae 2 - Do you know anything about it? 1 of 2

I've been using the fabulous resources on waygook all year.  I've also been writing lesson plans all year to give to my co-teachers.  So I'm basically just going to upload all my lessons in their entirety for anyone else to use.  I'm sorry, I haven't sourced all the games and slides that I have used.  Some of them I've made myself, of course.  A million thanks to all users who must have spent hours putting together PPT bomb games etc.

Some of my lessons have been hugely successful, others much less so.  Hey, we're working with kids - second-guessing them is a mine field, right?!  They seem particularly to enjoy games with cards or dice.  Running dictations and Sleeping Elephants always go down well.

I taught two classes per lesson so my posts will be labelled (lesson title) 1 of 2 and (lesson title) 2 of 2.  I haven't edited anything since I used it.  Some of my lessons were over-planned ie there was too much for one class, so they have been carried over to subsequent classes.  Generally things should be pretty clear.  Feel free to PM me if you need any help with anything - but I will only be on waygook until 18 September 2024 when my subscription expires.
