stemarty wants your ideas! What game should I make next?!
« on: June 30, 2015, 05:47:21 PM »
Edit: Thank you for your responses. Alot of people here have given me some fresh ideas!

I've decided to go with a kakaotalk / adventure style game. It's an ambitious idea so it'll take me a while to get it done.

I really enjoy suggestions and new ideas, so please continue to feed me ideas:

What would you guys want to see in a stemarty game?

Have you made one with KakaoTalk characters yet?

I'd love to see you do something with Webtoons, maybe with something like 10th Dimension Boy perhaps. It would be an uncharacteristic game for you and bring you out of your element. I'm curious to see what this looks like.

I'd also be interested in seeing you do a rendition of one of those bawdy Korean game shows with all of the bright colors, laughter, and cartoon bubble pop-ups that tell everyone what the person is thinking. Maybe you can make it a hit or miss template of some kind.

Just my two cents.

Hmmmm interesting! But I don't know much webtoons, so you're definitely right about bringing me out of my element!! Can you suggest any?

I second the KakaoTalk Friends! And also a lot of my third-fifth graders are obsessed with Yokai Watch at the moment so I'd love to see something with that!

Hey Stemarty,

Here is a site that I've used in the past to find some interesting webtoons: click here.

Choose whichever one you deem most appropriate for your class and have them fill in the thoughts of the characters or continue the story or make a completely new webtoon. Maybe you can have the characters ask questions or do what you've done in the past and create a sort of game-ification of the webtoons whereby each successive cartoon box poses another question for the students to answer.

Hope this clarifies!

You may have done this already, but could you make something dark and scary themed, like a Slender Man game or some other so-called creepy pasta?

How about something like the One Piece Mystery Island game? I thought that was great. I mean I love your bomb games, but there are so many already. So I'd prefer something different.

One of my more artistically inclined students drew a picture of Salad Fingers in her book. I'd like to see a creepy game based off of him!

I would like a game that I can use for adults and college students. It should have the same reward system, but without a cartoon theme.

My students and I are such big fans of your work. I want to thank you for all of the work you have put into the games.
I would have to say that my students favorite game from you would be the One piece Mystery Island adventure game. They love the bomb games but the adventure keeps all of them involved. So please consider making another adventure game.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
My students really like mystery... like the Detective Conan anime. They watch it all the time.

Sudden Attack is very popular with the boys.

What I'd really like to see though is an adventure style game using Korea as the map, visiting places and events that are well known here.  This could be set in modern era Korea (like a Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego type game) or maybe an adventure game set during the Joseon Dynasty with a quest by a single protagonist.   That would be really cool.

I love your games. A lot of work is evident in the build quality.

I too second something that's not a "bomb game" but something different. Of course, I'm inbetween classes so I don't have any ideas at the moment.

Okay, scrap my original idea above and go with Arclight's Korea-map idea! That idea is waaay cooler than mine!

+1 vote!

I have an elementary class that likes Hello Kitty.  Could you do anything with that?

I agree.  Adventure game is where it's at.

I'd also love to see an interactive story  - with simple vocabulary.

'The stories are formatted so that, after a couple of pages of reading, the protagonist faces two or three options, each of which leads to more options, and then to one of many endings.['

I saw a very basic example of this here - but there were only 2 options and the second option always led to a death scenario, in other words, it's not a proper interactive story.

My second idea is something I've often used in the past.
Review game - the grid is akin to jeopardy.  Each column, however, doesn't simply represent a different topic (if using this to review the whole semester, for example), but also a different game.  So, for example - actions topic would have simon says (one student from each team would come up and then compete to get points) - locations would be speed game (one student from every team comes up and has to reach a location flashcards as quickly as possible - btw - it's possible to use 'touch it first' with many location pics placed on the screen) -

For illnesses - charades -
For weather - drawing guessing game (or guess what's behind)
For food - hangman -
For description - memory game

ETC, ETC, ETC -

Essentially, this is the ultimate review game - something I've used on many occasions and it is superior to any bomb game out there.

For a theme, Jurassic Park / Jurassic World. Students would go nuts for that, for sure.
The more you know.

I'd love a street fighter game! I've never seen a game involving street fighter, despite how popular it is.
