Bomb Game Barebones Template - Click here to Download from Google Drive -
Dawson Powell – July 2015

This "skeleton" template lets anyone who wants to make a PowerPoint game to make one without the need to worry about the usual annoying PowerPoint stuff like hyperlinks.

Features of this "template template":
  • You only need to change the fonts, find pictures to use, and sound effects if you want them.
  • I recommend finding a Wiki or Wikia page for your topic to find good pictures.
  • Every slide has detailed step by step instructions explaining how to make your game.
  • I included the Korean PowerPoint commands if you want to use your school computer.
  • This file can also save much time for experienced game makers.
  • The structure of this file solves the PowerPoint 2010 reset bug. Explaining the fix is kind of complicated to explain, so I made this file instead.
  • If you would like me to explain the fix, or anything else in this file, contact me on my Facebook page.

Games you make with the template will have the following features:
  • 26 Questions (A-Z)
  • Scoreboard slides for between 2 and 6 teams (up to 50 points)
  • Compatibility with all versions of PowerPoint (including 2010)
  • Support for up to 5 Regular Prizes (like points)
  • Support for up to 5 Special Prizes (like mystery boxes)
  • The ability to choose prizes for a question
  • The ability to randomly choose prizes for a question
  • The ability to randomly choose special prizes for a question
  • A three slide "How to Play" section

This is absolutely fantastic. Thanks a heap!

I've found one minor bug. Changes to the Correct/Incorrect buttons on the Slide Master flow through to all question slides except for Question B (Slide #4). Specifically, I'm looking at the non-widescreen variant of your template.

Would I also be correct in assuming that should I wish to add a Rules slide, I'd do so in the space before Slide #2?

Actually, that's not a bug. Right-click on the slide and under Layouts you can change the slide to match the one you made. You will need to change the Correct/Incorrect buttons on each of the layouts. Each layout has links to different prize slides.

I didn't think about putting in a rules slide because I never use them. I usually put explanations on the page with the item. I uploaded a new version with a 3 slide rules section.

Because of the format of the game you can't just simply add or copy slides. They will exist in the file but they won't be shown.

Thanks for using my template!
