Choose Your Own Adventure - Hyperbole and a Half
« on: September 22, 2015, 04:41:13 PM »
I like some of the art from the Hyperbole and a Half blog (especially the alot - a silly animal-thing), so I made this adventure (using "should"). Most of the images are from the blog, but settings and some other things are just from Google.

Instructions are in the comments part of the first slide. Basic form for these kinds of stories.

If you have suggestions, or if I messed up the links somewhere (there are so many links!), please tell me! Thank you~

Edit: Slide 75's option "jump high" linked. "Turn left" and "choose a different animal" linked.

Note: If you notice a missing link, please tell me the slide number! Some choices are available multiple times.

Just tested this today with my afterschool class of high-ish level first grade middle school students. They liked it and asked to play it again next time, so I think it works!

I did tell them that a negative score is probably likely, due to my points distribution. So if they get a score closer to zero, they did well!

On slide 75 the "jump high" option doesn't link to anything. What is it suppose to go to? Or can you fix it?

My bad! It should link to the jumping-fail option, slide 78.
That's an easy fix, so I'll make a note on the original post, and if/when there are enough, I'll do a bulk change and re-upload it!

The "Turn Left" and "choose a different animal" options have no link.

Thanks for this.

I fixed all the links and added a map at the end so the teacher can know when all options have been tried.

I also changed it so I read the slide in first person, and the students can answer more naturally with advice/suggestions for me.

Nice! Thank you! My map when I planned this out was a lot more convoluted (it was my first try...). Yours looks nice and neat! I'm glad my material can be useful (and that others help make it better).

My students had a lot of fun with this. Thanks for the original. Here's one I modified and reformatted a bit for my own classes that others may find useful~

I just played this with a couple of my high school classes. They loved it but I did notice certain links didn't work or accidentally linked to other things. I've attached a version of this game that SHOULD have all the links fixed.

Thanks for making this, it's great!
