These are really nice and simple.  I especially like the illustrations for dates and feelings.  :)  How do you use these presentations in your class?  Do you read the slides together with your students, or just flip through them silently in the minute or so before class officially starts, or what?  I'd love to know.  :)

Wonderful! What an antidote to "I'm fine thank you and you?"

Hey,

I use these powerpoints at the beginning of class usually after an introductory song or video to settle the class and welcome them. I ask the questions and then for example if i asked 'how are you?' i will say 'are you tired?' 'Who is tired?' (hands up) going through each slide. The same with weather, is it windy? etc....

Defo helps with the im fine, im soso.

I may have already uploaded one of these earlier, but I can't be sure. Here are two simple PPTs I use to greet the class. One of them has personal pics you can easily insert your own :)

Rock-paper-scissors
« Reply #8 on: November 08, 2011, 10:52:30 AM »
I started using rock-paper-scissors to get my students' attention in the beginning of class.
My students love it that they are playing rock-paper-scissors with the teacher - especially, with the whole class! Give it a try.

Start saying Rock....paper........SCISSORS! (slowly, one word at a time) and then start playing it faster and faster later.

Here is a Catchphrase powerpoint i made for the beginning of class motivation. I got this idea from my Epik training. If anyone has anymore ideas on how to expand it, please feel free.

I show my students videos from Just for Laughs Gags - find one that is appropriate and then do some simple questions based on the video.

They have heaps of videos and you may be able to find one which relates to your topic of study.

PV=nRT

Where
P is pressure
V is volume
n is number of moles
R is the gas constant
T is the temperature
