Dangerous Animals Lesson: PPT, WS, & Game
« on: November 30, 2015, 10:14:04 PM »
Hey All,

I think I've got a pretty nice lesson coming up. I'm going to be teaching the students about dangerous animals, and some of the related vocabulary. The general lesson plan goes like this-

Presentation: Introduce new vocabulary and some dangerous animals to the students and watch a few videos.

Practice: Play the sleeping elephants game (I got this excellent template off of this site)

Production: Students complete the 2 sided half-page worksheet. On the first side they complete the picture crossword. On the second side they make their own dangerous animal, describe it, and draw a picture.

The lesson concept, dangerous animals PPT, and worksheet are original and made by me. I used the sleeping elephants template from this site. If you use this lesson successfully please let me know. Also let me know of any troubles you have or changes that you make in your lesson!

**Also, I usually attach the videos that I use, but they're so large that I can't. So, I included the YouTube links on the slides. If YouTube is blocked at your school, I recommend videograbby.com. Just put the YouTube link into that site and you can download the file as an MP4, and then show it that way.

This was great! I only used the power point and activity, but it's a great lesson. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the positive feedback! I ran it for the first time today and I also found that the kids really seemed to like it! I almost didn't have time for the sleeping elephants game, so I only did a couple rounds before we moved on to the worksheet activity. I'm glad it went well!

Looks great Cliff, thanks for this and all of the wondeful stuff you have shared! I think I will use this for camp in tandem with an animal fight betting game and a animal combo pic reveal that I found on here! Merry Christmas!

Hi where did you find the animal fight betting game and the animal combo pic reveal? I searched with those key words but didn't find anything.

Hey Mark, here is the link to the animal betting game.

http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=36715.0

Did you google search waygook: then animal bet? the search engine for this site sucks.

The animal combo thing is a little trickier. It was from an elemetary link with a bunch of different time fillers so I am just uploading it.
