Favorite "just for fun" PPT games
« on: January 04, 2016, 05:11:20 PM »
Hello everyone!

I'm doing my winter camps and have some time to fill. I have a small group of 5th and 6th graders and I am wanting to play some PPT games that are just for fun. I don't really care about the English content too much.

If you could upload or link me to some of your favorites, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, if you have any ideas for unique, easy to explain non-PPT games that can be played with a very small group (6 students) I would be glad to hear it.

Thanks!

I found these templates on waygook but can't remember where, so all credit goes to the original creators

My kids love them and they can easily kill 20-30 minutes

Simple memory game, students can work individually or in teams, look at the pics and answer the questions after 20 seconds
really self explanatory

These two are very popular with my students. Simple and fun for all levels. I give a whiteboard to each team and award a point to the fastest to answer each question. You can up the difficulty by insisting on perfect spelling.

Look up the k-pop twist ppt game here on waygook. My students loved it! Basically, they get shown and listen to the lyrics of a k-pop song (that has some English in it) and then have to give the missing English lyrics to earn points. (There are several versions on this site, so make sure you check that the accompanying music video clips are appropriate for your class!)

You could also try a simple card game of some sort. I've seen modified versions of King's Cup somewhere (maybe on this site?) where students had to perform an action or say a specific key expression depending on which card they pick up. You could even put a prize of some sort in the middle for the winning student.

That's such a small class, why don't you do group work since you can easily monitor everyone?  Get a flashcard set off of mesenglish or whatever site you like and play go fish or Uno.  There are tons of explanation ppts on this site.  Search for "landgrab game" and you'll find an easily customizable speaking game.  Battleships is also almost always a hit.  Or if you have the space or are allowed to take them to the gym, play a running relay race where they have to run and collect the vocab to get a full set.

Have fun at camp!
