Hey,
So for all of those teaching about asking and giving permission (Grade 6, Elementary school topic) there's a great game for review or even just warming the class up at the start of the lesson.
It's the 'May I . . .' TPR/Question game (also referred to 'Mother, May I . . .' on some American sites). It's super easy, all the students line-up against a wall and the teacher (or a student helper) stands up the front with flash cards. Students have to put the picture from the flash card into a 'May I . . .' sentence. e.g. 'May I borrow your pencil' or 'It's cold, may I shut the window'. For each sentence they say correctly, they get to take one step forward. If they get it wrong, they don't move. The first students to get to the person up the front with the flashcards is the winner. It's incredibly easy, but the kids love it and it's also great for reviewing vocab and sentence structures from a unit.
It does however, work best with smaller groups as larger groups can get a bit rowdy. Also, make sure everyone knows how big a step they are meant to take prior to the game starting. If there are tiles in your class, it makes it easy as they just move forward one tile when they get the sentence right. For my smaller classes, I let the students call otu the sentence and they're generally pretty good about peer reviewing if someone gets it wrong. For the larger groups though, it definately works best if students raise their hands to answer.
Hope you enjoy it :)
