I made a lesson for my 3rd grade middle school girls class.
I have around 36 students in each class, so i divide them into groups of three and have my co-teacher make sure there is at least one stronger student in each.
First I draw my own crappy pictures of a tortoise and hare (have to explain difference between those and a turtle and rabbit) and elicit the story if the class are strong enough.
I then show this clip, informing the students they will be writing and drawing the same story.
Once it has finished, I give the students a piece of a4 paper and have them divide it into 8 squares. tell them that they must briefly tell the original story in 3 pictures (with their own short text written in) and then use the remaining 5 squares to tell the Bugs Bunny story, again with their own text.
As most of them have a little trouble being creative, i use this PPT to give them important language and to model what I want from them. They must use all of the words along with
Before, After and While. The best ones have gone up in my classroom and I've managed to keep even the surliest and unenthusiastic students interested.
Hope this helps.
