So this year I was told to switch to fun lessons and games, rather than the more instructional nature of my previous year's classes.
Here are some of the activities I've done in my classes.
These are all participation games (The PPTs are not bomb related)
I'll add more as I can.
1.) Speed Readers
I go over the sentences on the PPT (8 per lesson) We drill them, then I put them on the chalkboard and two teams line up on either side. A member rushes from each group to read the sentences and when they meet in the middle they play rock, paper, scissors, winner carries on reading and loser goes to the back of their line, the next person on their team starts reading. If a reader gets to the end, they get a point for their team.
2.) Flyswatter Games
I'll add to these as I make. Basically there's a sentence on the PPT that needs completing, there are 9 A4 pages on the chalkboard, the kids must hit the correct one.
Game 1 is Ordinal/Comparatives. Simple, but in the Comparatives round I put (more big, more heavy etc) underneath to guide the answers toward bigger and heavier, if your kids aren't low level you can probably take these out or if you think "more big" isn't a helpful guide with regards to grammar, duh! Oh and one of the last slides "Asia is _____ than Europe." Don't let them answer "smarter" or something that could come off racist, the answer is "bigger."
Print out the A4 words as I have done them, that way you can just flip them if you printed on both sides, wasting less paper.
At the end of the PPT are 2 bonus slides with extra points and R/P/S, insert them as you like to make it more fun
