Ice Cream presentation & game
« on: April 21, 2016, 02:41:16 PM »
Last week it was pizza, this week it's ice cream.

EDIT: I just noticed a mistake. The Korean on slide 12 should read 말다, not 말아.

The presentation is about four kinds of ice cream dishes (cone, float, sundae, banana split), and what they're made of. If covers the history of the cone, some common toppings, and a few handy verbs (roll, float, split, scoop).

If you didn't do the pizza lesson, delete the first two slides. Of course, feel free to add or delete anything to better fit your ideas about ice cream.

The game is standard fare.
Click the numbers on the score keeping slide to cycle through them.
On the points slides, students choose Cone, Banana Split, or Sundae. Click to receive points.
As usual, test it out first to make sure it works on your computer.

I did these after finishing a listening exercise from the book, so if you want to use them for an entire period you might want to think of a supplementary activity or video to accompany them. You might be able to squeeze and entire period out of them, but it's better to be over prepared than under.

This is a great idea. THe kids love ice cream and they would want to learn about the different names. i will try to make it a full lesson by creating a worksheet or activity and post it on here. Tomorrow I teach them and it's after their finals so ... they won't be in the studying mood. This is good enough I think.

Okay I added a dialogue/roleplay to the presentation.  I offer the kids candy to get them to do the roleplays "willingly."  I put the game questions and pictures into a Tom and Jerry bomb game template.  If anyone finds any fun ice cream videos to show the kids please post it here!!

I added an ice cream personality quiz to the end of the PowerPoint.  Hopefully the students will enjoy it.
