Why was this thread locked?
« on: May 01, 2016, 03:32:57 AM »
I made a thread to discuss the US presidential primaries in 'open discussion' where such a thread seems relevant. All posts were on topic. All posts were civil and no insults were exchanged yet it was locked for no reason at all.

Why?

I think this is another case of taeyang enforcing his own unstated rules. Apparently, he doesn't like it when people discuss the candidate who wants to make America great again.

Again?  I think there isn't enough "Where can I buy cheese?" or "Which line to I take to get over to Hongdae?" threads on here.  An interesting thread that you're actually not tired of reading must be blocked so we don't distract from the more mundane repetitive ones.

Yea, I was actually enjoying that thread. It wasn't getting out of hand, at least not compared to some of the threads on this forum. I would like said mod to at least state how it violated the TOS. If not, then it's time for said mod to step down.

Poop! I was enjoying the thread. Maybe if someone else started a thread around the same topic it might not be locked?

I know. Nobody insulted K-pop. Why block the thread? I understand that saying K-pop is trash will get a thread deleted, the poster warned  or banned. But that didn't happen here.

Taeyang, sweety. Take a chiill pill. Everybody (who hasn't already been warned or banned) thinks K-pop is the bees knees. It rocks. It's awesome and under-appreciated globally. It will conquer the world soon.

Again, no need to lock this thread. K-pop's awesomeness was not in question. It's influence on America is "huuuuge".

In fairness, a country that has 500,000 cases of rape a year, and where 18.5% of the adult population has HIV/AIDS needs all the help it can get. But why can't we bad mouth K-pop and South Africa? I'm genuinely curious.

Why?

I'd love to hear from the moderation team on this. I've only posted a few times on this site, as you can see, but I've had several posts deleted, and several of the threads I've posted in have been locked. To be fair, I did mention religion in a few posts, which is against the RULES. I certainly wouldn't want to hurt God's feelings, of the feelings of any person.... unstable enough to be offended by the mere mention of Religion, so that was probably for my own good. It's a good rule! Thanks admins!  :azn:

But why are posts deleted and threads locked when none of the sacred RULES have been broken? It's very confusing to me. I am a simple mortal, of humble intellect, so I don't expect to understand such things, but if one of the Moderators, Peace be upon Them could explain through parable or allegory I will TRY to understand the wonders of their glorious works.

I was the OP for the original Ranting/Venting Megathread. It lasted a month or so then it got shut down over a conversation about Kim Yuna that went on too long. Nothing mean was said, it was simply one long, drawn out disagreement between a bunch of people (the general premise was whether or not Kim Yuna is an international celebrity or not. I said no, and will continue to do so).

Anyway, the thread got deleted and I got a warning for trolling (WTF?). How am I trolling by starting a thread to complain in. There was all sorts of convos about the negativity on this site (which lives on to this day, hahah), so I created a thread where people could complain about whatever they wanted. That's trolling?

Now we have the RVM 2.0 and it's going super strong and super long. Which is good! But why finger me for trolling because of a civil discussion about Kim Yuna?

Sorry, if you go around the world and ask people who won the Olympic Gold in Women's figure skating 6 years ago, you're not going to get "Oh, she's the Princess of Figure Skating! It's Kim Yuna of course." Just because she was on every Maxim stick and every SKT store, doesn't mean Americans give a shit who she is. This isn't Kim Yuna's doing, it's just a huge claim without any evidence on her fan's part.

That's worth a lock and a trolling warning?

EDIT: I've said it before and I'll say it again, just leave us alone. We're all adults here. I concede, if someone is advocating violence, or trying to sell drugs, or being super racist, alright step in and GIVE WARNINGS, not lock threads. Locking threads, deleting comments for going off topic or talking about Trump is so stupid. This is the front-runner for the Republican Primary and we can't talk about him? Debate?

If he wins the presidency, we still can't talk about him? Because you don't like him?

I don't like K-Pop. Guess what I do about the K-pop threads? I mind my own business and go to the other ones.

Nobody was acting like anything other than people interested in a huge election currently taking place, which was the topic of the thread.

Whoever locked it needs to take some responsibility and explain why.

And a country where Donald Trump is a serious contender for presidency doesn't need any help at all
