ESL Videos
« on: May 24, 2016, 08:37:33 PM »
So my hagwon told me I could let my students watch a video after they had done a test. I thought that meant they could choose a video on YouTube, so I've been letting them do that for a while. Then today I get told I shouldn't do that again, after finally getting caught.
I need to find videos related to 'education or English," any ideas. My school's not exactly big on specific guidance, I'm given vague notions and expected to fill them in correctly.
What I'm looking for are videos suitable to students who are in middle school, with high-beginner to intermediate-advanced English skills. Thanks guys.

Pixar shorts are good. They are not scripted BUT if you have a class that can hold a conversation with you, you can TURN ON the discussion mode. Ask the five basic questions ... WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY ... and go from there. You can even have a short writing module if you have time.

Hope this helps. ^^

The videos were created for public elementary school but most of them are still entertaining. You can try to turn it into a level for older students with different question or whatever your imagination comes up with.

If those videos are still too juvenile for your students, try showing a "What Would You Do?" video. You can discuss what happens and maybe talk about how the response is different in Korean culture. For lower level students, maybe learn some vocabulary?
