Escape the pyramid
« on: May 25, 2016, 05:18:35 PM »
I noticed people were still downloading the dungeon maze thing I uploaded a few years ago, so I thought I'd upload the 'sequel' I made for a summer camp a while back.

It's a similar concept instead of the students saying up or down, they say North, South, etc. Collect letters to spell the final message and defeat monsters by rolling dice.

It's a bit tidier and easier on the eye than the previous version, and can usually eat up an afterschool period or day of camp.

Hi,

I would love to try this out. Could you help me out? Sorry I don't understand how the game works exactly.

Thanks for this update, it looks great and my fourth graders loved it! We got through levels 1 and 2 in 40 minutes.

Right, sorry I should have made it more clear. The students get a print out of a blank grid representing the inside of the pyramid. Each square on the grid is one room. The students call out "go east!" and when you click the E on the compass you'll move into the room to the right. The students then copy of the layout of that room down on their map.

There are four levels and four different coloured keys to collect as well as letters spelling the phrase "There is no escape" which appears in the final room.

When you encounter a monster have the students roll a die twice to equal or exceed the number shown with the monster. If they fail you can either have it kill them outright or take off a predetermined amount of their health, which you can also establish as however much you like at the start.

I give them three chances to run away for the whole game, in which time they can either find a way around the monster or backtrack to pick up a health pack. If their roll exceeds the monster's hit points I let that increase their maximum amount of health.

Having had to write all that out does make me realize it's a bit more involved than I thought. Hope your kids enjoy it.
