speed reading game

We all know and love the elimination reading game.
I've decided to update it a bit - and make it a bit more time and skill efficient.
Essentially, I want more students engaged and I also want them to utilize more skills.
In this game, they are using not just reading and speaking skills, but also their listening skill as well.
Here I'm using the same intro as the one I've made for the charades game.
Much like the two charades game variations I've uploaded, I may decide in the future to also make a pic variation of this game - where instead of sentences, you'd see pictures. We shall see...
The rules of the game are on the first slide - although if you want to add another twist to this game, have students say the sentence in Korean, while the student at the computer has to click on the correct English sentence. In fact, that would work well for the second round of this game.
Update - it would appear that on some versions of powerpoint, clicking on the timer doesn't do anything - so I made a slight change and now to stop timer andplay 'we are the champion', you now have to click on the emoticon next to the timer.

Final update: I tested out the new version, it works well and no longer produces any errors and I must say, it all works out extremely well as a reading/listening/translation practice. By the way, what I now do is also add a second stage to this game - I ask students to translate sentences into Korean (the person sitting down has to click the English equivalent). You can ask students to switch into Korean either in the mid-game (after students have completed reading half of the sentences) or during the second round of the game. It all depends on the class size, and if you have enough time to do 2 rounds. You'll find that students progress a lot slower during the translation phase - since their brains have to process a lot more information at the same time - that, of course, is a good thing).
If your Korean skill is insufficient, you will have to ask your co-teacher to monitor whether the students are able to translate sentences correctly and click on the appropriate English counterparts.

Finally fixed the scroll wheel 'bug'. The scroll wheel is now disabled, which means that it is now impossible to reset the timer/change slides by accident.

In addition to the previously discussed 2 stages (reading, listening&clicking and translating, listening&clicking) I have added yet another stage when using this ppt (the ppt hasn't being changed, this is simply how I use it) - this is used with students who have major problems reading, thus require a bit more exposure to reading before starting the first main activity.
So, with these low level students, I first start the ppt and play it as if it were 'snatch the pic' game. 2 students have their backs turned towards the screen. I read one sentence (or an advanced student reads one sentence), the two students then have to look at the screen and point at the sentence they heard being read. The fastest student is the winner. I suppose, if you really wanted to, you could also do the 'listen to translated sentence and point at it' bit just as well. In any event, students who are particularly poor at reading, the more exposure to reading they get, the better, so this additional activity helps with that.

The next logical step in the evolution of this game format - this time, this game targets only speaking/listening skills, thus instead of text, there are pics.
I start the game off with snatch the pic (timer is not important in that instance) - for listening practice.
Then we do the speak/listen and click format (same procedure as the one used in the speed reading game).
How do you edit this? Right click on the existing pics and choose 'change picture' - for each one. It takes a bit longer to edit this than the text one, since you have to find pics on the net first, but after you find all of the pics you need, editing it is a piece of cake.
Works great for students who cannot yet read, or for the first two classes of each lesson (the listening and speaking bits).
