Afterschool Fun Lesson

Hey all- this is a lesson that I did with my afterschool class (Intermediate- Middle). The students really enjoyed it and it's simple:

I wanted to talk about the difference between 'translation' and 'version' so we watched a SHINee video on youtube and then read the lyrics translated into ENglish... then we watched a video of the same song but a different version... we still had some time left over so we played a vocabulary game... I put the vocabulary words on cue cards and spread them on the floor. Students were divided into two teams and when I read the meaning of the vocabulary word one student from each team had to run up and find the matching word on the floor..... crazy fun!

Thanks. I like the vocabulary activity. I'm a little confused what you mean by the difference between "translation" and "version" though. They don't seem like they are related words, but maybe that's just me?

It was basically to demonstrate how we can alter something (like the SHINee song) in different ways (like literally translating the lyrics from one language to another, singing an 'alternative' version, etc) but the meaning can still stay the same... just for fun, really

This is a really good idea, thanks.
I find it pretty hard to motivate them at 4pm after they've had a full day of classes, but this seems interesting. Will try it out :)

This looks like a great lesson - I'm going to use it for my final grade one classes before the summer holiday.  Thanks for posting - it's really useful stuff.   :D

My kids are incredibly hard to please but I think that they will enjoy this.

I included the Replay song as well in my PPT just for time kill.

EDIT: I corrected a typo in the original (I missed typed Hallyu in hangul) and I forgot that videos wouldn't work when I upload them without the folder.  So I included the links in the PPT for the videos that I used if you guys want to use them.
