Song-based Lessons
« on: June 29, 2016, 05:00:36 PM »
Hey All,

I'm going to be doing a few song-based lessons for after the final exam period. I figure it will be fun for the students and a good, low-stress way to wrap up the semester.

The first lesson is Country Roads by John Denver. I had previously posted and done a lesson on this, but I had combined it with another topic. Although the students enjoyed the song, I thought this was too rushed.

This time I'm going to focus just on the song and then play the K-pop/A-pop 1 game with the remaining time.

I enjoy bringing my guitar in and playing with the students, but the lesson could certainly be done with no accompaniment.

The general lesson plan is as follows-

Presentation: Introduce the genre of country music and the song "Country Roads" to the students. Go over the lyrics line by line.

Practice: Play the running dictation game

Production:
Activity 1: Complete the lyrics gap fill activity; sing the song together
Activity 2: Play the Kpop/Apop game in groups

I'm attaching my materials, and here is the link to the Kpop/Apop game (http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=91980.0)
